People keep saying it's easy. Fair enough, but how does that equate to a record of four straight titles, if it really is as easy as people claim? Also, they had not won the title for six years, and he came straight in and did that: rarely easy to do. Schhhhteve won a title over there, can't be that hard?

Very unfashionable thing to say this, but Ajax style playing from the back isnt Palace's style. We tried that with Pardew and look where it got us! I would put more confidence in a coach like Dyche who knows how to develop the'tight at the back, counterattacking style Pardew didn't really have a style. The change looked more like: tap it sideways across the back four then lump it forward. As for Frank: Whether he is right, I don't know, but I suspect he might be interviewed with the junior teams in mind for the long term.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |

A huge plus for De Boer would be that the Ajax setup is rightly regarded as at the top in terms of infrastructure and especially for bringing kids through. Would be great if he was able to impart some of that knowledge here. This is a very good point. The likes of Kai Kai could excel under De boer.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Frank De Boer in talks!' by kenbarr We could just hire someone highly respected from abroad as a dof to overhaul the academy and everything and get a manager to manage. There's a thought.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Frank De Boer in talks!' by kenbarr I may say I'm kind of qualified to a serious opinion. I saw Ajax play quite a bit under de Boer, and while getting results his tactics are always and that means pretty much always based on possession and control. His record in European football with Ajax was poor, partly because of this. Other then that, he is a likable guy, mad about the game and often misunderstood for a grumpy person as he naturally has a big frown.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Frank De Boer in talks!' by kenbarr You certainly have missed Martin Jol and Dick Advocaat on PL level. Lower down there were a few too, Jimmy Floyd and Dijkhuizen lately amongst others. Earlier: Jan Poortvliet , Edgar Davids and Johan Boskamp (such a beautiful first name ) come to mind.
