Lol - I did that. Went to Ascot on a corporate a few years ago. As part of the deal a famous racing man came and gave us some tips and his thoughts on each race. He had 40 years at the top of the profession as a trainer and owner. I know sweet fa about horse racing so meticulously wrote his tips down, listened to his rationale and stuck my tenner, for each of the 7 races, on his tip. Nothing. Nada. Not a winner, not an each way. I felt absolutely shafted. Even on Sky super 6 I get at least one score spot on and a few results, so I’d expect a 40 year veteran of racing to have a good idea. On the rare occasions I go now I just bet on Irish horses and trainers or do the opposite of the ITK’s and hold my own!
No disrespect intended but to amuse myself, when we were told it was definitely Nuno and it was being announced at a press conference (that even the press were unaware of and hadn’t been invited to) the next day - I smelt bs and stuck £10 on Lampard at 14/1 and there it still sits. You never know.

Not this blokes. They were shocking. (I have considered that a likely scenario is that he simply thought that he’s not going to give a bunch of corporate freeloading tossers any decent tips and we wouldn’t have a clue anyway - which, in my case, was spot on)!

My mate was a concierge at a hotel with all the top Arab owners such as Sheik Mohammed. He was also a very bad tipster himself so when we heard "Lads I have a tip" if it was from the Sheik or one of his minions we lumped on, if it was my mate we ignored.

Anyway the proper tips did very well indeed unfortunately he has retired so that has all dried up leaving us as just mug punters.

My favourite tip was not from him but his nephew who was also a concierge. About 2 minutes before the off at the Oaks he called from the Royal enclosure and gave us the 20/1 winner with the classic "lump on lads and we did". He got that from the chauffeur who drove the owners to Epsom they were discussing how much to lump on (£20,000 I think).

Anyway it won in a photo, happy days, I had about 4 winners that day, of all people my mate didn't back it because he didn't trust his nephew's tips.

One more point

Er no. There is nothing in that article that says Everton are in for him at all. It's just a load of comments from Everton fans saying `if Palace are going for him then we should get him`.
