Or the kids are risk takers and glad that they are. Better than some of the virtual traffic inspectors around.

Surely the issue is that Lineker signed a contract with a company who don't allow it's employees to do what he did.
If getting his opinion known is so important to him there are several other broadcasters who would let him tweet to his hearts content.

If they had done that immediately then it would still be hypocritical given what they allow their right wing presenters to say, but may have been easier to explain. The fact they were willing to let it die down until hard right MPs complained to the Tory stooges in charge of the BBC that they had sudden heel turn, is the problem. And now Rishi is desperately backpedalling and trying to distance the government from it because it's backfired and they've been found out.

He's the one who said his kids are young and impressionable but are clearly using twitter if they're seeing Lineker's tweets.

If he genuinely thinks a couple of tweets from a former footballer-turned-crisp salesman is going to turn his kids into woke lefty transgender drag queens, then maybe his kids aren't ready for the internet. Or he should supervise them and make sure they only go on websites he approves of, like Britain First or Stormfront.

Always said Tim Davie was not strong enough to run the BBC. Seen as a nice soft pick as a Tory party member, but has done nothing but apologise for the BBC since taking the role and at the first instance his paymaster yank his chain he messes it up.

EDIT : I see Davie has managed to find something to apologise about [again].

What do they allow their right wing presenters to say?

Andrew Neil, when he was on the BBC, was constantly spouting right wing rhetoric on Twitter (this as a *political presenter*). Alan Sugar is still hosting the Apprentice and yet goes on Twitter and urges people to vote Tory. Lineker hasn't done anything of the sort (the closest he got was saying Labour need to "bin Corbyn" which wasn't punished by the BBC).

Then of course they let Fiona Bruce openly excuse domestic abuse from Stanley Johnson on Question Time on Thursday (dismissing it as a "one-off" ).

Jeremy Clarkson for years was on the BBC and had a column in the Sun.

EDIT this is what the BBC said about Andrew Neil's multiple discretions.

In a reply, a BBC spokesperson had written: ‘Andrew is a freelancer and his Twitter account is a personal one – the BBC is not responsible for its content.’

It continued: ‘When carrying out his responsibilities for the BBC, he always adheres to the same rules of impartiality as all other presenters.’

Gary Lineker is a freelancer too. He doesn't just work for the BBC, he works for BT Sport and La Liga TV. How come the same rules don't apply?

Indeed, but some never let facts get in the way of a good rant.

Haven't the impartiality guidelines changed since Neil's time?
I didn't see Question Time but it's very hard to see any excuse for domestic violence no matter who is involved.
