True, if a trust is deliberately broken the bond is void. Once we heard that Parish and co hadn't secured the removal or reduction of the Zaha 25 profit percent to Man U.... that was a pretty big hint that we were looking to keep him.....as least for this season. Personally if Parish gave his word it's for him to honour it same as for Zaha.....but as said, we don't know what's gone on and we're just shooting the breeze. One thing we know for certain, Zaha signed a 5 year contract last summer for £130,000 a week. The rest is pure guess work.

You and many others are assuming there was a gentleman agreement to let Zaha go, which I very much doubt. The normal agreement is the player is allowed to speak to other clubs, if a release clause is reached by the other clubs, that is stipulated in the contract. Why would you have a gentleman agreement when millions of pounds are involved for the club, player and agent? The only thing that leads me to believe that there may have been an understanding for him to go is the removal of the buy out clause in the last contract.

It wasn't removed, still there Are you sure that you're not thinking about the sell-on clause with Man Utd cos a lot of reports at the time said the buy-out clause in Wilf's contract had been removed.

I don’t know what’s hard to understand about Wilf wanting to win some serious silverware whilst he’s at his peak. It would be different had we won the FA Cup. Do you support Palace or are you his dad? Zaha signed a contract and he will honour it if the club says so.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha wants out' by Midlands Eagle I wonder if we deliberately didn't get the sell-on fee removed during the AWB negotiations - after all, it gives us a reason to bump up Wilf's asking price to a level which no club is going to pay, making it easier to keep him...

Of course it was. That was the whole purpose of his wage rise last year to buy out and remove that clause. by removing the clause we could sell for the price we wanted at a time that suited us. Wilf will be here till we get the price we want or his contract ends. Yes player power exists but will have no effect on SP

He might have a week of frustration but all he wants to do is play football and the second he gets out on the pitch it will all be forgotten. He's not a Sanchez or Dimitri Payet. The bigger issue is if we block it, will it be coupled with another pay rise which we can't really afford to keep giving every single year.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha wants out' by Midlands Eagle Wilf is significantly better and less injury prone than Ramsey. Ramsey is on £400k a week in Italy. We are a club that cannot presently reliably match Wilf's ambition/potential. I would slip him another £10 mill over 5 years if he'll take another extension. But if he gets injured we are f***ed.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |
