There are some posting here who apparently wanted us to adopt this approach.

That lets our elected representatives off the hook then.

Johnson was right about covid but didn't have the strength of his convictions and allowed the weak chins to group think our way to financial and thus...ironically health service disaster.

This latest video from Campbell has the distinction of not being as bad as most of those he makes.

He at least acknowledges that the enquiry is being done honestly and thoroughly.

That though doesn’t stop him prejudging its conclusions or dropping in a few snide comments about needing to keep an eye on how their review of the vaccines is handled.

Anyone following the enquiry will realise that the government was unprepared and panicked and that this was exacerbated by the gross incompetence of both Johnson and other ministers. We don’t need a video from Campbell to know that.

Nor do we need any pontificating on what it all means, especially when so much has yet to be examined. It’s the job of the enquiry to identify weaknesses and suggest improvements to avoid repetition.

That we need to do better looks obvious. What that better might be isn’t.

To conclude that “Johnson was right” is just another prejudgement. Somehow I very much doubt that will be an official conclusion but we must wait and see.

Yes I always thought Boris seen through it all. He wasn't a fan of lockdowns and didint want them. I thought his hands were tied by the scaremongering media, a small minority of the public, CMOs and some party benchers.

He should have stuck to his guns. However I do praise him as england was the first country to reopen and then stay open. Was it April 2021? Most countries Did not lift thier measures till mid 2022.

I hope all the anti-lockdown advocates here have been listening to Lord Stevens, the former head of NHS England give evidence to the Covid enquiry.

His description of how the worst-case scenarios were handled was chilling and informative. I don't think any reasonable person could conclude that the lockdowns were either not considered very thoroughly or an absolute necessity after hearing his evidence.

Scared boomers destroying the country.

The first of the 'me, me, me' generations and the first to pull the ladder up.

Not all obviously but as a generation it's pretty much their legacy. The first to bring up a generation where the men want to wear dresses and the women won't do their main purpose and have enough kids.

Wouldn't want to be a youngster starting out today.

I was watching the enquiry yesterday and heard Professor Yvonne Doyle, the former Medical Director of Public Health England explain this. You can read how she dealt with Hancock here:-

It seems that they always defer to their political masters, even when they profoundly disagree with them, although they find other ways of making sure their opinions get to be known.

Sweden stands as the obvious answer to the lockdown fetishment that some....who complained about it even being lifted....still salivate over.

How should we follow the science when the government don't or won't?

It seems the messaging did get through, but wasn’t popular with the politicians who could see it causing them damage. That caused delays and confusion.

The science came to the fore but not as quickly, or as clearly, as it should.

That’s my take on what I have heard so far, but whether that will be the report’s conclusion remains to be seen.
