I was about to agree with you then I remembered that the fishy woman wants another for Scotland. The way she is sucking up to Labour she may get it. Hope so, but with the proviso that, as it is to break up the Union, we should all get a vote

For me, I will never forgive their betrayal over student fees, Clegg forgot his principles to gain a bit of power. Just like they have been honouring the last one.

You and your ilk are continually speaking like remaining is a done deal. It's bizarre. If we leave with some form of deal, we've left. End of. You lot can then fight over what you meant by leaving but that is for the birds. We will still have left. Don't throw your toys out of the pram simply because you won't be getting your version of 'leave'. That was never specified, and anyone who claims it meant this or that is simply making it up to suit their own position. Bit patronising, don't you think? What is/are his ilk?

My view on this after a decent Friday lunchtime is that we just need to leave. That is what was voted for 2 years ago. If there is no deal so be it. At that point it will then focus the minds to sort out trades deals etc as quickly as possible. Qualification: 5 pints of Camden Pale Ale in 100 mins.

On Question Time last night Emily Thornberry rather bizarrely stated that if they were in power, they would seek a better deal, that they would then put back to the people, while campaigning to remain?!? So I'd say I'm definitely in agreement that there is no plan really, other than to throw enough spanners in the works to make this government unworkable. On the flipside of that we've been back to the country under Theresa May and it's the way we've voted that has allowed for a parliament that can behave this way. As time pans out the Theresa May snap elections looks more and more disastrous in terms of the stalemate situation that's some about. With all that said, through one mechanism or another I do see a November election as being quite likely. It appears to be the intention to either make Boris jump ship, or humiliate himself in the run up to that. Should he be forced to ask the EU for another extention and refuse to do so, but remain in his job I have no idea what that will mean. Or if we would drop out of the EU as result. Lots of unknowns right now. Shadow Foreign Secretary who just rolls her eyes when someone disagrees with her, needs to grow up and learn a lot about being a diplomat.

Based of BoJo's own words I just can't imagine him asking the EU for an extension. But at the same time, there is likely to be an election in November now I'd say, and I doubt he'd want to step down when potentially it could result in him being prime minister for 5 years. A tricky situation. Three years plus in, and the next twist and turn still remains an unknown. My own reading of this is that Johnson will bluster and protest, ask for another vote on an election etc etc just as a smokescreen. If he does go to Brussels to request the extension as mandated by Parliament he could vote against it, thus bringing the whole pack of cards tumbling down, because time will be too short to reverse it. Or he might start a legal challenge so late in the day as to avoid having to request an extension prior to Oct 31. I have no doubt that these, and other scenarios, are all being thought through by constitutional experts on both sides of this chasm.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |
