This post has been merged from a topic called 'Frank De Boer in talks!' by kenbarr I mentioned him or Laurent Blanc would be my ideal candidate. I think he could attract some serious talent to selhurst.

Thought we didn't want someone to use CPFC as a stepping stone? FDB, big name, but can you really see him putting down roots and plugging away with (relatively) limited resource for the long haul?

I agree, no PL experience, managing in the Dutch league much easier than PL, here we are over 12 hours in to transfer window and all the others are active with team building and we still have now firm news, with so many options being touted about it will take SP all summer to make up his mind!

The main difference is that he is a big name, so he should be able to keep the current squad happy as well as attract players imo. I would be very happy should he want to come Best way to keep a squad happy is by winning or keeping us in the league. Pardew was liked but that eroded as results and hope did. Pardew could attract players but it took Sam to get them to perform. I have no opinion of De Boer tbh. I know more about Pellegrino's results coming in each week. It wasn't long ago that de Boer was touted about a move to Everton. How can you judge a manager on a 14 game stint at inter, where the club were in financial mess. He's a big name that I'd feel will keep the likes of Cabaye and Benteke happy.

Also, I thought SP said we wanted a coach to play 'pragmatic' football ala Allardyce, Pulis, Coppell etc. RDB is hardly likely to come into that category, the guy is an Ajax product as both a player and coach. This post has been merged from a topic called 'Frank De Boer in talks!' by kenbarr Regarding de Boer, he was poor at inter, however are we going to attract a manager without a blemish on their record. Dyche - only 1 away win against us. Pellergino- poor in his first 2 jobs and not a big name. De Boer- great record with Ajax - poor at inter Milan.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Frank De Boer in talks!' by kenbarr Although I am not all that excited by this option, I would still rather have someone who was sh!t for Inter than some of the reported options. Rather than his record, what is his play like. Does he fit Palace?

Whilst at Inter de Boer didn't have a lot of control if any over signings and transfers. His job and plans were was made very difficult by this. However I would consider him an excellent candidate for the job. Get him to start building us a proper pucker academy to mirror Ajax's one if he gets the job!
