But they rebelled regarding something that basically has killed any chance of the UK getting a better withdrawal than the one repeatedly rejected by Parliament. Boris Johnson was absolutely spot on with his tactics with the EU who were starting to believe that he would carry No Deal through. It was music to my ears as a leaver. This deserved the support of Parliament irrespective of their personal views on BJ. If not all then at least including the rebels plus those who were prepared to put this fine Country first before politics. DynamicDick May I congratulate you Sir on an excellent post.

With the pace of change 30 years is several lifetimes, so really long term.

Based of BoJo's own words I just can't imagine him asking the EU for an extension. But at the same time, there is likely to be an election in November now I'd say, and I doubt he'd want to step down when potentially it could result in him being prime minister for 5 years. A tricky situation. Three years plus in, and the next twist and turn still remains an unknown.

One is left with the impression that these parties would vote down ANY deal that Boris agrees with the EU.It would appear that the only way we would achieve Brexit is with NO deal, resorting to WTO rules and not "Crashing out" which is the emotive rhetoric and hyperbole of those hell-bent on keeping us in the sclerotic EU. Edited by Willo (06 Sep 2019 2.06pm) On Question Time last night Emily Thornberry rather bizarrely stated that if they were in power, they would seek a better deal, that they would then put back to the people, while campaigning to remain?!? So I'd say I'm definitely in agreement that there is no plan really, other than to throw enough spanners in the works to make this government unworkable. On the flipside of that we've been back to the country under Theresa May and it's the way we've voted that has allowed for a parliament that can behave this way. As time pans out the Theresa May snap elections looks more and more disastrous in terms of the stalemate situation that's some about. With all that said, through one mechanism or another I do see a November election as being quite likely. It appears to be the intention to either make Boris jump ship, or humiliate himself in the run up to that. Should he be forced to ask the EU for another extention and refuse to do so, but remain in his job I have no idea what that will mean. Or if we would drop out of the EU as result. Lots of unknowns right now.

Jeremy Corbyn’s having repeatedly called for a General Election did not agree to Johnson's request for one wittering on about preventing a 'No deal'.
