Except this isn't actually true.

This is from the BBC website, so is likely to be accurate:-

""It is always regrettable when commentary on matters off the field take the focus away from what's happening on the field. In view of the ongoing dialogue on the subject, I have taken the decision to step back from my work for the BBC for the time being," Vaughan said in a statement.

"The key driver for this is my concern for the wellbeing of my family members and my wish to protect their family life. Stepping back temporarily is also in the interests of the game and I hope that it will minimise any difficulties for my work colleagues."

In a statement, the BBC said: "Following conversations with Michael Vaughan we've accepted his decision to step away from our cricket coverage. This is a decision we respect and understand. Michael remains under contract to the BBC.""

This will all turn on whether the requirement for staff to be impartial is universal, or restricted only to their area of speciality. I didn't care when Jimmy Hill made offensive, right-wing political, and often racist, remarks off-air. I cared when he promoted Coventry City above Palace. I am much more offended by Lineker's unapologetic support for Leicester on MOTD, than I am that he dislikes government policy on immigration in his own time.

This is not only a big test for the BBC, but also for Sunak. Will he resist the push from the right to trample on the BBC or stand up for their right to govern themselves?

It will be both interesting and instructive.

I hadn't seen that article but I do remember this one.

This wokey walkout by the BBC football team just emphasises what a nest of Lefty, liberal muppets it is.

The irony is that MOTD is ruined by the waffle and the limited match highlights.
I'm sure just as many people avoid the show because of Lineker as watch it because of him. A new presenter would make little difference.

I really hope they sack all of them. That would be highly amusing.
The BBC management have to show some balls on this one or the licence fee is toast.

Is it really a flagship show?

yes, MOTD is a flagship show. But what flag ? not the union jack.

its the rainbow flag, the Black Lives Matter flag, the Antifa flag, the UVF Flag, the 'Asian' paedo-gang-rapist flag, the Jimmy Savile flag.

I think this is what they will do. Perhaps it was their intention all along and were just waiting for an excuse

I for one will be relieved I won't have to listen to that great scorer but total nonentity pundit, Alan Shearer tonight.
Nor Mr Wright or, indeed, the self satisfied Mr Lineker.

The fact that many BBC employees are walking out in sympathy with Lineker indicates the left-wing faction in sports and show business.

Aside from anything else, it is absolute insanity when a group of celebrities is promoting the idea that we can just have unlimited immigration into this country, especially when an ever growing number are arriving here illegally.

This is a country with finite resources and space, which has an existing population that should be the primary concern of any government.
The insane, blind ideological lunacy the likes of Lineker spout is simply devoid of any foresight or intelligence.

His kind cannot be allowed to influence the young and gullible.
