Excellent post Plaistow Eagle, summing up the thoughts of many fans I have spoken to.

Ok you can help him then with informing us exactly how we are supposed to move our manager aside to bring in someone who is more qualified and experienced in the art of getting knackered players to perform at their very best while maintaining safety in the league against probably the best players and managers from around the world, not going to mention the cost again.

Last season in the 9 games after Lockdown we managed just 4 pts.
If we attain just 4 pts in our next 9 games we could well be deep in the mire.

We only need ten more points in all reality and will more then likely secure these points with a record amount of games for us still remaining.

Mr Hodgson still needs sacking though for making our players make all those daft mistakes in the games we should've won easily lol

I tried to put your side of the argument to the many fans that I spoke to, but they weren’t having it.They have had enough of Hodgson and would like him to depart at the end of the season.
Your arguments haven’t proved persuasive enough , although I’m sure they’re well meant.

For avoidance of doubt, I wasn't advocating that somehow the "Roy Out" camp were perhaps altering their antipathy on a match-by-match basis.I do feel that many mindsets are now "Set in stone".

I had just formed the opinion that with a win there is not the motivation to reinforce their message with relief and joy the overriding emotions. A defeat however just stirs the "Anti-Roy" emotions yet again and the calls for his removal become ever more strident.

I have perused with interest the arguments on 'both sides of the house'and I appreciate and understand the thinking behind several of the points raised on either side of the debate.

I'm not really interested in conversations with brick walls but we do need to know and understand how to build them, Mr Hodgson has just laid the foundation, we need someone to come in next and build the wall, the final act will be to decorate it but to just undermine our foundations now with a manager who cannot build walls properly would render Mr Hodgson's hard work a total waste of time.

Just saying he needs to go isn't going to get us anywhere, I know he is not going to be building the wall so why can't the Roy out fans on here understand he is not going to be doing it as well. Why does it matter when he goes? he will go when the club decides it's time to take the risk with someone else and when they have the available money to do it.

I haven't a clue what you're talking about TP.
I'm sure youre well intentioned and your loyalty to an underperforming(in the last year) manager is admirable if perhaps questionable.
I accept that you will never be persuaded that Hodgson is anything other than a brilliant as opposed to steady manager.
Thus I will leave you to continue to snipe at those with opposing views.

The whole point is he isn't underperforming, he may not be playing in the style that everyone agrees with. We are currently 13th, which is above par in relation to the investment made in players.
The expectation a different manager will do significantly better is not guaranteed . There is no reason to change a manager, that is sitting with his team mid table and relegation is only a faint possibility and he retires in 4 months.

One win after multiple hammerings is not a indication we are lucky to have Roy its the opposite we won but it was far from convincing its hard to be inspired by a manager who don't leave his dug out its gone stale simple as that no investment and same coaching staff with a defeatist mentality.

I assume you didn't see Saturday's game then where there were a number of cuts to Hodgson on the touchline either talking to a player during a break in play for an injury or gesticulating to one or more, again from the touchline. I accept that when Lewington is present, Hodgson tends to leave that to him.

what sort of decorations do you envisage gracing our fine new wall of solid foundation and neat brickwork? Some decorative iron gates, a pair of matching statues atop, or perhaps we render the facade to cover up the brickwork underneath thus creating a nice, smooth finish?
