That being said, I've seen a few people say the highlighted and feel compelled to say that it's complete paranoid nonsense. Firstly, Sky don't own Skybet. It's owned by the Stars Group who also run Pokerstars, Betfair and Paddy Power. So the profitability of Skybet's markets is of zero consequence to Sky. It is purely a branding tie up where the group pay Sky s***loads of money to use their name and for the advertising. Secondly, transfer markets equate to such a pathetically small percentage of the overall betting industry turnover that I assure you it is worth nobody's time to come up with some devious scheme where they leak transfers to influence the direction of money. The truth of that matter is that SSN have turned from a relatively serious and trustworthy news organisation to effectively a televised version of the Sun's back page so they can make money through ads, clicks and so on. That's why they make up this bollocks.
'Impulse' advert- Advertising campaign whose slogan is expected to change in the light of Rajiv Gandhi's assassination: 'If someone you don't know suddenly offers you flowers- run like f***!' |

To be perfectly honest I find the “told you he wasn’t in the know” posts to be as, if not more irritating, than the “just as I said” posts. If someone actually hears or reads something then post it. I do my own (usually very poor) research to see if I can find anything about it. I couldn’t give a flying f*** whether the poster read it or heard it second hand (as I am too lazy to trawl loads of sites) and I have no idea why it matters or why anyone gives a toss? Life is surely too short to worry if someone on a bulletin board is claiming to ‘hear’ rather than ‘read.’ I’m grateful to get info and Dazza is usually accurate. My pet hate are the suggestions. Suggesting to who? So I don’t tend to read them nor comment on them. I just reckon folk spend far too much time on FIFA or FM. That stuff is an ego trip but that’s my personal opinion. Some people like them, I have no issues with that and I really cannot be arsed to comment, regardless of how bizarre the suggestion. Edited by Helmet46 (22 Sep 2020 8.28am)

MODERATION POST I would draw all posters attention to the 'Please read before posting' notice by Midlands Eagle, pinned to the top of this board - particularly the last paragraph. If you do not like/believe/want to follow Dazza's posts then just scroll on by and read something else. Constant criticism of a fellow poster, who has every right to post his opinions/information as everyone else, does nothing to enhance these boards. Thank you for your co-operation!

It’s frankly becoming tedious and explains why a number of decent posters have left.

The line around unsourced rumours is interesting.. that’s clearly not being moderated. However criticism as you put it is. What’s wrong with criticism if it’s not offensive? If you put your head above the parapet with inside information not available to your average fan on a message board - should you not expect comments and opinions. Very odd

Edited by Helmet46 (22 Sep 2020 8.28am) Yep, that's pretty much how I see it as well. I find the 'suggestion' stuff pointless as well, however what's the harm if some enjoy it. We all get to choose what we click on and partake in. It's like football in general really....it's meant to be enjoyed so if you find something annoying just scroll on by. I quite enjoy Dazza's posts and I'm not really invested in a Sherlock Homes whodunnit over the circumstances....but whatever floats people's boats I suppose.

There’s more to it than telling someone not to read or reply to things they don’t like or believe. Often some of the comments from members like Dazza end up sending the topic in a very specific direction. Comments like “this player is nailed on to sign next week” “you heard it here first”...well those comments can kill the debate on will he, won’t he sign and for those of use that truly believe that these comments have no foundation what so ever are left trailing behind the wave of thank you messages and people wanting to move on to the next player rumours. There is a divide at the moment about how people feel about certain posters and telling certain members to shut up, while allowing others to potentially feed complete BS seems harsh. For what it’s worth 9/10 complaints about Dazza have not been rude and don’t warrant any intervention at all. Did you intervene when a whole host of people went off on one at Mattteo?

Take the Sorloth issue, I think everyone in the industry thought this was a done deal, probably most at the club. So I don't think anyone should use this as a stick to bash him with. Keep going Dazza. In the end I'd prefer get my Transfer news from you rather than Sky news!

Basically, this whole thread is based on rumour, hearsay and speculation...... some will come true, some will not. That is the very nature of Transfer Talk. Whilst I have specifically commented on Dazza's posts this time, it applies to all who post here - as long as their posts comply with the rules, they are free to do so. In the same vein, people are free to read and agree or dismiss their observations,or to not read if they are dismissive of a poster. Everyone is free to comment on any post content, but not on the poster - as per HOL rules (whether polite or not, although abuse will get you a card!)
