Just one? OK. What about unilateral disarmament. Only someone someone who's unwashed, unemployed mum gave birth to them on a windy day at Greenham Common still clings on to that left wing fantasy. Like Crispin Blunt, Tory MP for Reigate?

It wasn't what the leave voters had in mind but you can be sure that it was and is on the mind of the Tory leadership and their big business backers when they were going on about how difficult EU regulations are. What they want to end is regulations which reduces their profits. When did the Tories ever give workers rights? They opposed the minimum wage. One of their latest tricks is that whereas there was no fees to take out an Employment Tribunal case for unfair dismissal and you could do it once you had been employed for one year, they have made it so that you have to have been employed for two years and it costs £1200 in fees alone to go to an ET. If you are not in a union you are faced with risking £1200 to get justice at a time when you have just lost your job. Typical Tory move. You went on about "Most Tories" and all that, now you say "It wasn't what the leave voters had in mind....". Make your mind up please. Also you go on about "Minimum wage", conveniently forgetting that it the the Conservative Government who have introduced the "Living wage" !!!! Rest just sounds like Corbyn anti-Tory rhetoric....

I'm left but not liberal left. Liberalism has ruined the socialist debate. With regards to Corbyn I'm not his biggest fan but he has shifted debate. Theresa May's speech outside number 10 almost sounded like socialist rhetoric whilst Owen Smith is pursuing true left wing policies, compared to say, Yvette Cooper, this time last year. Whether you like him or not what is clear is the PLP are completely out of touch with the changing landscape in British politics. The idea that winning the centre ground will be enough to get power is naive beyond the extreme. We're not in 1997 anymore.

So do you think that setting out a "Lefty" agenda like Corbyn and Smith will be enough for Labour to win the next election ? Wonder what the PLP think of the Smith manifesto ? You make it sound that somehow Corbyn has influenced the thinking of Theresa May !!!! Absolutely bizarre. Anyway, enough of all this - time for bed !!!! Edited by Willo (28 Jul 2016 11.55pm)

Fair point. However seeing as there are, and a lot of Country's with shall we say, less than ethical agenda's also have them. Leave our selves without a deterrent of similar magnitude and we leave ourselves open to bullying in the international playground.

If you weren't so naive you might just realise that it has been nuclear weapons that have prevented that very thing from happening. And I had no idea that Crispin's mum was at Greenham Common. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (29 Jul 2016 8.13am)

If Trident is so good and necessary, why don't countries like Germany, Japan, Brazil, Canada, Austalia, South Korea, Italy, Spain etc etc get them? Even if you are right that nuclear weapons stopped world war (which is debatable), it certainly wasn't our pea shooter.

They have got some as part of NATO, among others. And they are covered under the nuclear umbrella. If you don't think Britain is a significant player, you're a complete moron.
