So Wisbech is incorrect in saying Wanting to see Hamas defeated and removed as the authority in Gaza is, so far as I am aware, the aim of everyone writing here. Something that itself needs to be “vanquished” before progress can be achieved. What does ‘removed as the authority’ Actually mean.

No longer in any kind of control in Gaza, without influence over anyone who is, their organisation dismantled and hard assets destroyed. No longer in existence in any form, militarily or politically. You annihilate people. You remove organisations. Is it necessary to annihilate every Hamas foot soldier, or just the commanders? Boys who have been fed a diet of hatred but might be saved with a diet of love? Boys whose mothers would be grateful to have home. Boys who could become the men to help rebuild their community. For sure reeducation would be needed but it has been done elsewhere. A bloodlust attitude is the one that will stoke up resentment in the coming generations and allow Hamas 2 to emerge. The chain of hatred must be broken and it won’t be done by Hamas itself. So it must be by Israel, if rinse and repeat is to be avoided.

I want peace to prevail. Not just in the Middle East but the whole world. That peace is threatened by situations like this and not helped by those suggesting simple solutions.
