Sainbury's have no incentive to sell what so ever and are probably quite happy to drag this out to get an extortionate price. Extra crowds might result in them closing earlier and even less trade. Disruption from construction traffic probably isn't desirable either. They will probably argue that car parking space per square foot has a greater value to them than anything else, because a congested car part deters customers from using the store. In an ideal world I'd offer to build a new supermarket for them in the Selhurst car park, build flats on the top to replace the ones we are knocking down which would open up space behind the White horse for further expansion.

Yes I wouldn’t disagree with you and perhaps, as others have said, discussions and solid offers could’ve happened with Sainsbury’s before impressing everyone with the plans that pretty much nothing has progressed on. It ain’t happening with the current owners. Fairly convinced of that. Problem is would a buyer want the work/grief/time needed to complete it?

Even if discussions had taken place with Sainsbury's before the announcement (if they didnt) I dont think it would make any difference. Sainsbury's could have played it in two ways - Agree to everything, knowing that when it came down to detailed negotiations they could change their mind and hold us to ransom. - Say they support plans, but object to anything that supports them. Essentially it's still Nimbyism but with a massive estates division.

Then with a new stadium and sports complex, restaurants, hotel etc etc. Smarten up the amazing but very tired and shabby park. Surely the Nimby locals could be tempted??

Imagine a really Zany Crystal new stadium. Loads of glass etc. being overlooked by THE Crystal Palace. Would be amazing. Massively add value to local property

There's nothing in it for the residents to increase the traffic and footfall to CPP. That's why they're opposed to any sort of development. In all honesty, I suspect there's not too many of us that would relish the idea of a major tourist and/or sports attraction being built on our doorstep. I can't see how such a development would increase property values either.

A load of chain restaurants encouraging people like at the IKEA and cinema complex isn’t going to win people over enjoying a quiet area they wanted to live in.

What's required is the solid rumour of a new sink estate to be built imminently on Crystal Palace Park. Maybe the residents would then prefer us to a chav-infested slum?

At the risk of repeating myself. Crystal Palace Community Association (CPCA) have opposed any development in crystal Palace Park. This includes a multiplex cinema,a Development Plan, and more recently the rebuilding of part of the Crystal Palace.

Would be good to hear from him more often, would put a lot of us more at ease. ....and come on Sainsburys, do the right thing by us, many of whom are your own customers. I think SP may have had a jolt re academy worth with Bissaka coming through and being sold for £50. Without Zaha we could well have never been promoted.Also high profile clubs like Chelsea and Man Utd having managers prepared to play youngsters instead of just using their financial muscle.
