I think you'll find that your posts outweigh mine by a large number - and not to bore everyone again but where have I ever expressed 'adulation' for WH? The argument has ALWAYS been that you have blamed him for virtually every goal we have conceded over the last two years and that is unacceptable bullying behaviour.

The right replacement for Wayne was bought in last summer when Mandanda arrived. This was a signing who was a big step-up in quality and experience from those already at the club. His performances both before he left and since returning to Marseille would suggest the fans who criticised him on this board were pretty ill-informed. Some fans believed his performances whilst at the club were poor despite his shot stopping and distribution being far better than that of the two other keepers at the club. The defence in front of him was also abject at best...and lets be fair hasn't greatly improved since. There was also nothing wrong with his attitude until he returned from injury and Big Sam picked Hennesey ahead of him. After that he quite rightly declared himself not best pleased and kicked up a fuss at being the understudy to a keeper who is not as able. Big Sam done a great job, but this was one thing he got wrong. Wayne's confidence is shot at the moment so it has to be Speroni that is played until we can get to January and sign someone. He'll be bombarded by West Ham on Saturday and Carroll will knock him about...just hope there has been some training done on this in the last couple of days.

You say it’s a confidence issue, I disagree! There are fundamental problems with the way he plays in goal. We are unlikely to see improvement and it’s time for him to be moved on. Speroni should be retired, if he was we would be right in the brown stuff now. The defence I agree is a collective effort, so he takes a portion of the blame. Sahko was playing well, Dann has been decent past few games and Ward is looking better.

They are not and I personally don't think he is Premier League Quality. At the beginning of last season when Mandanda was playing we were defensively poor due to Pardew's tactics. That improved when Big Sam came in. The crux of my post was that the Goalkeeping position would not have been and should not be a problem after we signed a seasoned International with Major European Club competition experience for next to nothing last August.

I disagree And his performances for Wales have been excellent and highly praised which would not have been the case if there were fundamental issues.

What about the stats I showed at the end of last season plus the vote that showed him to be the worst in the league? Stats do not mean a thing as they can be twisted and manipulated to suit an argument. Never a truer expression than “There are lies, damn lies and statistics” especially in this case. You’re trying to sell a Lada as a BMW to a paying public that know the difference between both.

You’re trying to sell a Lada as a BMW to a paying public that know the difference between both. Very true but the stats I gave a couple of weeks ago from the official PL site showed very little between Speroni and Hennessey in terms of their PL games for us. Of course you then denied those were relevant as Speroni had played some of his in 2004/5 as that then suited your argument! Re Mandanda, I'm sorry but he was a poor keeper who fans liked because they could do the stupid chant of his name. He let in several weak goals (eg Bournemouth and Sunderland), stayed on his line for corners (eg the 2 Liverpool goals) and his distribution was rushed, causing problems for defenders who weren't ready which in turn led to the opposition scoring (again Sunderland). You just liked him because he wasn't your arch-enemy.
