The classic phrase "You can't polish a Turd" springs to mind. Obviously SJ has been tapped up hence the 'shock revelation'. If it did happen it would be dressed up as 'lybian buisness organisation buys football club', with a small undercurrent of gadaffi in there. That way they'd get around FIFA, UEFA, The F.A. etc etc. Unless any formal denial comes from Lybia, and soon, why would a respected newspaper like the Guardian report it? There has to be truth to it. SJ isn't going to openly admit "Oh yes gadaffi and I were on the phone for hours last night talking about the future of CPFC and he expressed an interest in buying us"

Now that 'Polish a turd' phrase makes a lot of sense in this situation

I think I'm with you, Bacon. I mean, I still can't conceive that it will happen, but if it did and the cash started tumbling in, I don't believe any past terroist activity he may have been linked to and his current dictatorial leadership would bother me. Now I don't agree with terroism or dictatorships at all, but I'd love my team to be one of the best in the country, maybe even Europe. I guess I can put it down to the 'duality of man'.

when i 1st read this thread i LAUGHED (as did most supporters of most teams in england?);
since then it has got a lot of coverage possibly because Gadaffi wants to buy a premier club, and SJ has said he will sell IF ITS IN THE CLUBS BEST INTEREST.
if this deal is to go through it would HAVE TO BE IN THE CLUBS BEST INTEREST and you cannot blame SJ for doing it if it was.
i just DONT think it will happen: im not sure why Gadaffi needs publicity,but i think SJ will stay to FINISH off the dream he has started:he wants to play with the "BIGBOYS".
i think the reason SJ didnt say NO straight away is because he didnt want to put off anyone with the right amount of money that he would sell
( an abramovich type of person?):the problem is IF Gadaffi follows up his interst:WHAT WOULD WE THINK WITH A SERIOUS OFFER?
