Guehi complements Joachim with one being the more physical and dominant and the other being quicker and more mobile. If the club don't need the money then I hope he stays, but I do feel like £60+ million would be a good deal.

It's all about knowing when you should hold on to a player or let him/her go. My own view is that it's time to let Marc go if he wants to go.

I think you were spot on as 2 CDs, IMO different with 3 CDs, you need a left footed CD who is good in the air.

I think this one has a way to run. I think Chelsea will be an important factor. They have the 20% sell on clause and right to match price. Since we are reported to be after at least 2 of their players I think this may come into play. I can see newcastle offering us £60 million ( i think we may hold out for 65 but we will see) Chelsea could offer us both players which we have reportedly offered £45 million plus a bit of cash. with Chelsea creative accounting this could be made advantageous for PSR for them. This also gets 2 players off their books and bloated squad. Their defence also looks week so Geuhi return has advantages. Newcastle have no-one we want to reduce price possibly young left back they bought from Chelsea but that is unlikely

Riad looks like he is going to be a good player. Holding must be wondering why he joined.

That seems a far deal and would represent a record transfer receipt for the club. If Chelsea have a 20% sell on clause based on profit that's c£30m upfront profit, so £6m to Chelsea.

Especially if he won't extend his contract with us. In fact, if "Sandcastle" up their offer to at least £55m, I'd hope the club would accept it. With that kind of money (even allowing for Chelsea's 20% cut of profit, if that is indeed the case) we could buy Lacroix (who's the same age as Marc) and have a good wodge left over to strengthen another position. It's all about knowing when you should hold on to a player or let him/her go. My own view is that it's time to let Marc go if he wants to go. Absolutely. Squeeze a little more out of Newcastle, but ultimately let him go for resonable money. I suspect (if there is any truth in it), the Lacroix negotiations are going on in parallel. Price we are happy to let MG go for is influenced by what we can buy for. Feels like we are starting to get the hang of this buying and selling malarkey!

Breaking News on SSN, Newcastle have made a 3rd bid(no figure given) & Palace are 'negotiating'.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Personally, Chalobah and Chukwuemeka + (possibly) some cash for Guehi would sound a good deal to me. Whether or not it pans out as such is another matter, of course. I'm still not sure that losing Guehi would be a big blow for us. As others have mentioned he's neat and tidy, intelligent, solid tactically and seems an all round great guy therefore member of the team. Sometimes I wouldn't mind a bit more of a physical presence at the back though.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
