Mad old game, just pleased with the effort, fight and times some of our one touch football was amazing. Even if we’d lost 2-1 with late goals I wouldn’t give a monkeys after that effort. Well done boys.

Glasner’s influence is starting to show, saw the green shoots against Citeh. The future might not be as dark as I thought COYP.

“Where’s the title gone, where’s the title gone…far far away!”

Great to see OG saw that and put them on the bench where they belong, but as I said, great sub players. Roy would have started Schlupp, Ward, Ayew and we would have lost 5-0? Or 1-0? we would have lost.
Positives:
1. Glasner is the real deal (phew!)
2. Honestly, that first half, we made that Liverpool team look ORDINARY. We were passing at leisure in their six yard box. A top quality, team goal.
3. Glasner's got them defending! Hooray!
4. We should have been 2 up by half time.
5. The team has confidence and knows their shape and jobs.
6. Mateta is the real deal striker.
7. Hendo is the real deal.
8. Lerma looks a lot better in defence than in the middle and gives Mitchell time and space to attack more.
9. Anderson should be captain - not Ward - bless his socks.
10. Roy is a dinosaur.
11. Warton is the real deal and when Docoure gets back we will have an awesome midfield.
12. Hughes, a player I have denounced often as being too impotent and weak, is pulling his socks up and playing with gusto - I tip me hat to him. But keep it up! Don't go 'Ayew' on us and decide to stop playing and hide as a passenger. OG is onto that.

Why on earth bring Hodgson into it ?

It was good to see Glasner's tactics pay off but you are going overboard on the strength of one game.

When a club like ours plays against the top teams you need three things to stand a chance of winning ;

* be at the top of our game
* opposition to be below par
* some luck

I think we saw all of those yesterday.

Congratulations to OG on his team selection and tactics - worked a treat.

Hard to pick out a MOTM for Palace as there were a few contenders - Andersen, Mitchell and Wharton stood out I thought. And a very honourable mention to Nat Clyne who came in from the cold and performed excellently. Good to see Henderson keep a clean sheet too.

Hopefully this performance and result will be the platform to accumulate a few more points in the remaining games.

Just read Lanzo's post, and somehow I overlooked Lerma ! Outstanding performance from him.

Lerma was my man of the match, but I would also highlight the contribution from Wharton.
The Guardian today write of his 88% pass completion which dwarves others on the field.
The thing is that it’s not just safe passes - he plays with his head up and looks to play forward passes to get us on the front foot.
He plays with a maturity that belies his age and it was also noteworthy yesterday how many interceptions and tackles he made without conceding fouls.
He looks to be a gem and sadly it won’t be long before the top clubs will be linked with him through their agents in the press.

Good post, mirrors my thinking.

The working week looks a lot less daunting on a Monday morning following a victory like yesterday

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

His performances since joining should be a bigger talking point outside our club than they are. I expect that because our form has been average it's all gone under the radar a bit.

For a 20 year old CM he is exceptional. Calm, composed and classy on the ball. Never seems to panic. Plays clever passes but, when he moves, he has that long, languid stride that reminds me of Gerrard getting up the pitch in his heyday.

I'm not sure Eze will ever truly establish himself in the England squad but I'd be amazed if Wharton doesn't become a regular within the next couple of years.

Reading that Klopp called us lucky. Luck had nothing to do with it. There were no ref decisions favouring us (the opposite if anything), no unintended blocks by our defenders, no dogs running onto the pitch, no acts of God. Does that also mean JPM's two great chances didn't go in because of luck? I guess he would call that great defending/goalkeeping! Ultimately, our bravery, composure, organisation, tactics, and force of personality were too much for them.

Glasner said before the game that he used to study Klopp's tactics and now it seems the apprentice has become the master

Gerrard's last ever match for Liverpool.

I remember standing in the Arthur Wait having watched Jedinak's free kick to win 3-1, singing "We fu€&ed your title up"

It was at Anfield.

You didn’t have a good word to say about half the team before kick off, don’t bother now.
