Didnt Vieira get accused of having an unfit squad, when Roy took over? Seems an excuse to me, ?we generally play only one game a week, so they cant be overplayed.

Not when you can visibly see players flagging and blowing late in games

I got the impression yesterday with JPM that he was knackered. He looked much less the player he has been for the last couple of months.
I would guess OG has upped the intensity and I think it took a bit out of him especially yesterday. As I said in a previous post once the Luton game is out the way I think fitness will really be worked on. 3 weeks with professional athletes should make a big difference.

I used to play a reasonable standard and one season we had very good ex pro come in for pre season. For about a month we never really touched a ball. Sprints, runs, jogging, sprints on and on. Boring as f*** and we all moaned. But f*** me come the start of the season we tore into the opponents like they were standing still. We were so much fitter that it was a breeze to play. I imagine the same with high standard pro footballers. Bring super fit must make everything else easier in the game.

f*** knows what Roy and ray had them doing for them all to be so unfit but you would think as professional players they would take it upon themselves to be the fittest they can be… but I guess not

I would suspect Glasner will bring in a much more professional training regime and much stricter and more scientific fitness training. It's going to take a while for it to show on the pitch, however.

Fitness is the answer. I was reading an article about how OG wants to press press press. In his interviews he is saying that the levels are only there for 70 minutes.

It is clear that this is the issue. The players clearly have the tools for much of the game it is the fitness they don’t have. Look where we would be if we could carry our first hours level into the final stages, we would be top half of the table.

I also read this week that OG has the players in on Sundays now, he wants intense training up to Thursdays with the ability to play 120 minutes at high intensity.

Once the Luton game is out of the way and with 3 weeks break to train I really think we will see a sharper fitter team against Forest and Bournemouth.

OG prepared Frankfurt`s fitness usually in pre-season. They used to spend a week in Windischgarsten up in the mountains for some altitude fitness training.

Not sure where he is but as someone else mentioned he is injured. He may have played his last game for Palace. I'd rather the youngsters got his minutes for the remainder of the season

I know he’s not the answer but at least Schlupp has pace and that’s what we needed in the last quarter of the game to give the Spurs defence something to worry about.

Beulah/South Norwood Hill might be a little nearer. Don't want to tire them out.

Agreed. Glasner can get our boys fit but can he stop them being insecure and a bag of nerves when we go ahead? That’s deeper…the soul of a man not just his body.

He can certainly improve it.
