That would save a lot of time. Bring back the pools panel to decide the scores then pay your money to sit in the ground and have the result read out.

One thing that bothered me at the Sheff U match.
One of their players was clearly offside and the linesman didn't flag (as instructed). Keeper saves and the ref gives a corner. Those "marginal" offsides used to be routinely given by linesmen who, when rerun on match of the day etc, were only rarely wrong. The officials used to be very good at their job.

So for the first time, v Burnley the game had four usually slow VAR calls for all 3 goals and their disallowed goal.
If I didn't know better, I would say that the VAR techies must have been hijacked by some Palace fans as all 4 decisions went our way!!
The idea of VAR was to eliminate any doubt and therefore mistakes. It totally fails to do either, so what is the point in having it.
I far preferred having a linesman stick his flag up or not for offside and the ref make a call on penalties, handballs, fouls etc etc.
The old way the game flowed. Decisions were instant as was the excitement around goals or disallowed goals.
Now, the crowd has to stand about waiting and waiting and waiting.
We had getting up towards 20 minutes extra time on Saturday.
They mess us up enough with changing days and times of games to suit Sky, then they keep us hanging about in the cold at matches.
Im fed up with ALL the football governing bodies in this country and internationally. They are making a pigs ear of our game.
Something needs to change.

A thing that has crept into the game that really gives me the hump is penalties being awarded when the striker initiates the contact .Both of Newcastles v the spammers were such yesterday .

Gordon was the player that 'won' the pens with what some would call clever play (I call it cheating) the first was given by the ref and not overturned which is just about acceptable . The second not given by the ref was by VAR . For me it was actually a foul by Gordon on Phillips

Just don't know what the VAR was looking at there .

And where was it at Chelsea , the Burnley defender was defending as required and gets sent off ! Meanwhile the all in wrestling at corners continues .

So Forest threatening to take action after the Everton game. I must admit that none of the penalties looked stonewalled to me but then again I'm not sure what is a penalty these days.

However the Forest response was quite belligerent and this is not the first time this season, it seems to co-inside with them recruiting Clattenburg as a Ref Watch advisor.

Clattenburg seems upset over the standard of referring perhaps he should consider his own performance in the FA cup final, Mr Pot calling Mr Kettle.

The best thing Forest can do is to get rid of him and apologise.

One more point

They'll never win any argument based on subjectivity. Accepting referees can make mistakes, or be unsighted, is one thing but VAR should have at least recommended the ref reviewed the incidents.
Their point about the VAR official being a Luton fan is very dubious. How would the FA schedule work if refs, linesmen and officials could only be involved in games which didn't impact the clubs in which they have an interest?
