Funny how this corporate money man never had the fuzz sent to his door or any mainstream hassle despite funding an organisation engaged in criminal acts all over the country. If you want to know where their main big money comes from it's the Aileen Getty Foundation......So the Getty family. They also part fund Extinction Rebellion. These are highly funded organizations with mainstream support....anyone who thinks it's just organic isn't taking notice. [Tweet Link]
Edited by Stirlingsays (06 Oct 2023 7.35pm) Typical Lefty loon. He knows Labour won't stop oil production, as does anyone with a brain. I doubt he needs to encourage dimbo climate activists to vote Labour. They are stupid enough already.

I've kind of answered the points you raise here and you reject them....well ok. I don't support criminal damage regardless of what political cause it's in. As for there being no arrest of Blade runners, well that's hardly for want of trying. If Fox had gone out and stopped traffic or glued himself to a painting there would be no whining from me. However, I don't defend arrests based upon words....and like I say there's an operating double standard....both in funding, mainstream exposure and Police treatment. The post highlights the kid gloves that the Met and other forces treat these people while they break the law....anyone can compare it to how the same force treated covid protestors for example....the video footage is there for all to see. Edited by Stirlingsays (06 Oct 2023 2.27pm) You don’t defend arrests based on words? So fat boy organising a kidnapping and possible murder via DM or a terrorist cell planning a bombing by text and email - no arrest until they actually follow through? Seems an odd position.

As are the blade runners... who have no arrests. There's nothing remotely aggressive about what I said - those sort of twitter posts exist for all political outlooks (including my own), but are just a really poor way of making a point and in nearly all cases they're just looking for engagement by being deliberately controversial or provocative. The thing you posted said "Laurence Fox was detained... for voicing support of the blade runners. In contrast the met police give Just Stop Oil cups of tea and let them get on with actual criminal behaviour" The reality is that the same met police have arrested over 2000 member of the same Just Stop Oil, making the above an absolute fantasy. That's not a matter of opinion, that's fact. You can keep manoeuvring and re-wording and whatever else to try and change that reality, but it's very obvious to anyone being genuine that's a stupid quote, and I mean it sincerely when I say you are better than leaning on stupid quotes to try and make your point for you. “I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Cars having to do 20mph on the Tower Bridge Road. Men who aren’t allowed to see their kids – they know why – taking 19 goes with an angle-grinder to disable a camera in Chingford … All those moments will be lost, like tears in rain …”

Edited by Stirlingsays (06 Oct 2023 12.38pm) What’s indefensible is your inability to identify the clear difference between what fox said and what packham didn’t say. Assuming the point is that China is still using coal China is spending mind boggling amounts of money on renewables - and is having to heavily invest in coal to take up the slack as they transition. Much like the UK relies on gas fired power and is building new plants to support our own transition. China will achieve its net zero energy goals way before its target of 2060.

Mind you people also told us that the HS2 project would cost such and such and be ready at...'insert fantasy date'......and that apparently no one's going to be buying new non electric cars after 2030. Similarly, if you believe any statistic the Chinese state puts out then I'm a Nigerian Prince and I have this considerable opportunity you might just be interested in investing in.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

China is way ahead of the West in it's transition to EVs of all kinds including public transport. The coal issue is due to the size of the issue, a massive country of over a billion people cannot follow the same path as much smaller countries. As for comparing Packham with fruits, then I nominate him as the lemon.

It's 0.07 seconds into the video Yep, firstly you’ve misquoted, and added some of what the other guy was saying for good measure. The actual quote for you ‘If we do blow up pipelines and we do get caught… we’re going to take a beating from the state’ Vs ‘I encourage them to tear down every single camera there is. I will be joining them to tear down cameras as well because I'm one of those people that puts my money where my mouth is… I will be out there with my angle grinder. I would encourage mass removal of the surveillance state... I would be happy to be arrested myself." Maybe your grasp of English has somewhat diminished after years living elsewhere, but even without the context of the interview he’s giving those two quotes are, again, rather obviously not the same thing. One is a hypothetical the other is a direct call to action. I’ll agree that it’s closer than my earlier comparison, but it’s nowhere near the line. Swap in ‘we’re going to’ for ‘if we do’ and you’d have a winner. So once again If you can share a verbatim quote that matches the same direct inference as Fox I’ll happily agree. Somewhat amusingly despite fox claiming he’d be happy to be arrested, it doesn’t seem to be the case. Maybe now he can use that silver spoon of his to pick the lock of his cell door.
