I have just watched our goal several times and what stands out for me is how sharp Eze was. There was an article in The Athletic a few weeks ago about the role Fabinho plays in stopping Liverpool's high line being exposed when they lose possession and the full backs are up the pitch. Fabinho is the player who drops back and covers the player who might play the through ball.

Last night when the ball came to Eze he took one touch on the half turn which completely beat Fabinho and went forward a little, before playing a perfect pass to Wilf who had also timed his run from between the two centre halves perfectly.

This piece of individual skill from Eze was fabulous, as was the finish from Zaha.

In a way, not much different to the infamous Zidane head butt. Ok his was too the chest but it was a deliberate movement to butt someone. I can’t recall exactly what the punishment was but I think it was worse than the standard 3 match ban.

I can’t see this being ignored by the FA. It will be interesting to hear what they say.

Even if you ignore the severity of the headbutt, surely his reaction to being sent off must mean he will get more than a three-match ban?

As an aside, full marks to the travelling Palace fans who kept up vocal support throughout, although the Sky commentator failed to mention the noise they were making.

So glad their faith was rewarded and they had a happy trip back home.

Now, number one on the agenda for Palace:

In the next two weeks, find (not easy) and sign an attacking central midfielder.
Someone who is able and confident to hold and bring the ball forward - watch Edouard or Mateta bloom if we do get one.

I went last night and have woken up hardly being able to talk this morning!! Our fans were brilliant and it was literally chaos when we scored!!
The only downside was some scum in the tier above us throwing coins and bottles down at us.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Yes but you have to make allowances, after Hillsborough (and totally ignore Heisel).

'Are you free for an appointment today?':

Specsavers poke fun at Dietmar Hamann as he claims Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez should NOT have been sent off for headbutt because he 'walked into' Joachim Andersen!

It takes all sorts......

After an exhaustive investigation I can confirm that in no way were Liverpool fans to blame.

Must have been practising his 'Pigeon Walk' with his head bobbing against the face of Andersen.

I dont belive this at all! Bottles ok but scoucers with money to throw away is a very rare thing , unless they mugged someone on the way to the game .

I thought PV, the coaching staff, and the whole team deserved great credit for last night’s performance and result. Liverpool we’re always going to have the lion’s share of possession and win the ball high up as much as possible. And with them playing 3 strikers it was the perfect game for PV to try 3 at the back. He knew we would have to rely on a breakaway and neither Mateta nor Edouard are blessed with pace so playing Wilf up front was our best chance. Tactically both decisions were brave but spot on and worked remarkably well. Defensively I’ve never seen Palace play set pieces and balls into the box as well as they did last night. Everything was headed clear. Up front Wilf took his goal really well and might have had two more.

As PV said afterwards he would have liked the midfield to show a little more composure at times and hold the ball when they did get it but overall the perfect answer to the way Liverpool play and a good result from a game where we had nothing to lose from trying something a bit different. Well done to all involved!
