Well, I suspect my views are at variance with yours Stirling, but I watched PMQs earlier and Boris stands head and shoulders above the contestants for his job in the way he deals with the questions. The odd thing is, judging by the reception he received at the end, that he would appear to be the more popular as a leader and I suspect if he were to be included in the race, he would win. What some of his 'colleagues' and the media did to bring about his downfall is a tragedy.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

What some of his 'colleagues' and the media did to bring about his downfall is a tragedy. For star quality and for his debating skills Johnson wipes the floor with all of the candidates. However there are many valid criticisms made of Johnson that are also true...not withstanding those that might come from my wing of conservatism, which takes a pretty dim view of their 'cap in hand' WEF globalism and support for woke social liberalism. And what you fail to understand is that he is an affable after dinner speaker and deliverer of clever bon mots, so will always garner popular (and populist) support. However, he was always faking it as a statesman. He lacked both acumen and presence and was kept under tight wrap by his minders who always knew his severe limitations. He got found out. And if you are genuinely labouring under a delusion that it woz the media wot dunnit, quite frankly you must be joking. They only reported what they saw, including the Tory press barons who realised that he had become a liability for both party and country. The only tragedies are that: a. It took them that long; and This is the biggest shot in the foot by the Tories since Hague.

I don't deny he became a liability, but the quality of those likely to replace him doesn't look at all encouraging.

I do hope the younger generation believing a bit of socialism is good get what’s coming to them. It normally takes about 6 years of it for the penny to drop. Roll on 2024.

Get Brexit Done. Yes, Boris has the special sauce. Without a shadow of a doubt. But the man is simply not of a quality you need in a Prime Minister. Not that I have any faith in either Sunak nor Truss. And with the alternatives in a man like Starmer, or a potential King Maker in that freak Krankie up in Scotch Land, and the UK is simply bereft of any politician worthy of being lauded as a leader. Never felt so despondent about the future of the UK. There is simply no obvious candidate who can genuinely bring any quality to the leadership role. No vision on offer, no sense of anybody being willing to go the crucial extra mile. I genuinely think we are going into a winter of potentially global discontent that could last well into 2024. And with nobody worthy of even the slightest bit of faith in making any kind of decision that benefits the UK above the desires of their own venality.
