£10m?!

If true, £10m is a no brainer for us.

However, we're already overstocked at RB. How versatile is Richards? I was very impressed with his cameo against Liverpool and wondered whether he could also play at CB?

We know there is a good player in there somewhere & at £10 M it would be hard to say no - the fact that Man U overpaid & didnt know how to use the player isnt our problem -

On Salary AWB would need to decide if he just wants paying till Man U kick him out the door (barely making the bench) or if he wants to be more realistic about whats going on around him right now in his career with the right club he could be playing in the PL / possible England place etc

Agree - but also wonder if they are thinking longer term. Ward, Clyne and Tompkins will probably depart at the end of this season - so AWB would make total sense and a good deal.

Whilst I agree that Tomkins will probably be leaving the playing staff and Ward possibly, I suspect Clyne may well be offered another year (he'll only be 32 next April). Indeed, if he keeps performing we could see him getting a further one year extension the following season.

Although £10m appears on paper a steal, the questions remain as to:
a) How much has AWB's head been turned by being a Manure player? and
b) Is he prepared to take the pay-cut needed to fit into our new wage structure?

Yes,the drop in pay is the key, unless ManU want to pay the difference for lenght of his contract at ManU, that and 10m fee is really pulling their Pants down

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

The massive drop in price for what we sold him plus the opportunity to once again sing "Your wingers do not like him...." are two good selling points.

I am dubious as to how this will play out if he does move but if it happens I will of course at first welcome him back with open arms and throw my support behind Aaron.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

If he drops his salary then its a no brainer. He has lost his way but with a bit of decent coaching he could return to former glories.

Lets not forget Clyne was in the same boat. As was Wilf.

So long as his head is right then I think most of us agree £10m is a steal. This is a player that shut out Neymar and Mbappe in the CL a few years back and he's still young. Also, I think he is better going forward than everyone says he is and certainly as good if not better than Clyne and Ward in this regard. I wonder if like Zaha he needs love and support to thrive, which he certainly isn't getting at United.

Agreed. As long as he drops his wages to our level would love to see him back.

A very valid point. He is also very young still and when he moved.

Some blokes may well love the hype of going, living and playing in Manchester but he may well feel far more settled near home. I have the feeling Clyne picked up a bit of steam being on home turf at the grand age of 30(1,2?), may well be the case for AWB.

Also, in footballing terms, I for one would assert that we are a far different club now to when Aaron left. This may have an impact upon him too, not just fighting for survival with slightly more ambition and confidence but not the overwhelming pressure of UT. All just theories of course.

We have seen a fee reported in the media.
CPFC could of course still be owed a sum from Man Utd as part of staged payments from the sale of £45 Mill rising to £50 Mill.
I was in conversation with someone last week and AWB was not mentioned at all !!

I was well reported at the time that we received 50% at the time with a further 50% deferred for twelve months and we actually borrowed the second portion from an Australian bank secured on the contract
