100% Why every season there is a significant conversation about relegation even when we are not in a relegation battle or could get caught up at that moment. If I’m honest - the only season I thought we could go truly go down was our first season ( up until we got Pulis) then my fears were relieved. Even when we first got Roy - after FDB I said to friends and those critiquing we wouldn’t go down. Too many pessimists and glass half empty and fans on here who are too used to being negative about our positioning and league status. The only time I've ever looked below with caution was after Burnley beat us 0-3.

Why, how many times exactly have we been in a relegation position since we came up, you need to look read and learn. Maybe he means, some fans have been around a lot longer than that and seen us relegated several times in the past

I had a chat with a Chelsea fan who was at their game against us and agreed that we gave them a good match. He was surprised when I mentioned relegation and said no way. I guess it's being a Palace fan of 50 plus years but when I look at the table I look down not up. In the past we have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Anyway I think the last 2 games have settled me down I think we are okay this season. I do look forward to the day when I do look up, maybe next season and PV has done a massive overhaul so well done to him and the rest of the staff. Edited by Badger11 (27 Feb 2022 9.52am)

Are you suggesting you agree with him. As Palace did exist before 2013 and I have seen us relegated several times, then yes I suppose I do

To my mind Bielsa will not be at Leeds next season. He's not there now, just been sacked.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Was not talking about "been in the relegation position", just for me every new season - esp. here in PL - the main concern is to stay up. And I NEVER feel comfortable till we are mathematically safe, wherever we are in the table.

The two seasons we looked remotely like we could get relegated was the first season Post Pullis and the second Pardew season pre Fat Sam

Newcastle are safe this season, having such incredible access to unlimited funds to buy success. Burnley will survive.Leeds could enjoy new manager bounce, leaving Brentford getting a Danish pasting in their free fall,Norwich and Watford.

You look where Villa and Everton are despite spending more than most teams not only in the PL but in the whole of Europe and it shows you just how hard it is to succeed in the PL. We are currently punching above our weight just to be in the position we're in now let alone higher, which I would say is largely due to having a stable leadership who seem to make the right decisions at the right times. Dougie, despite all the stick he has received, has also proven to be an excellent recruiter of top talent. I love our club at the moment. We have a fan in charge, an exciting young manager and squad and we continue to act as a family club in the main, supporting local causes and investing in the development of young players, not just for our benefit but theirs. We are getting plaudits for the right reasons and other fans are starting to point at our club and say "I wish our club was run like Palace." With our resources we are always going to put avoiding relegation at the top of the list, but if Parish continues to run the ship as he has with long-term goals then I have every faith we'll remain competitive in the PL.
