They nicked a point from us at SP, and we nicked a point from them tonight. Both teams were missing key players so I guess it was a fair result. Eze is clearly unfit and reluctant to tackle. We are missing a quality RB, but I think the midfield once Kouyate, Macca. Ayew and Wilf are back will comfortably see us through till the end of the season.

Yh you must have forgot that eze hasn’t started for 8 months , how else will he get his premier league match fitness up?

Just about now, Graham Potter is sitting bolt upright in bed and thinking, “Why the —— did we play down the right side all night?” Mitchell wasn’t quite as sharp as usual but if the Weed had focused on Cucarella (or anyone) vs. Ward all game long, Brighton would have 30 chances to score.

Given the age and inexperience of Olise, Eze, Edouard, and Gallagher , and lack of playing time together, we did well.

Give Eze and Olise more game time, relieve Schlupp from his duties as a starter and hopefully, Zaha is fired upon his return. Gel Gallagher, Hughes, Eze, Olise, Edouard, and WZ - then we will have an awesome frontline.

Don't know why anyone would be disappointed with a draw. It was more than Palace deserved. Brighton 4 shots on target Palace 1 shot on target the goal. Plus Brighton missed a pen. Overall it is a great point though even though they conceded towards the end.

Eze has never offered anything defensively. People have short memories, clearly! I'm not knocking him - he's a real talent and we know what he's capable of. Glimpes of that yesterday.

He needs to be in the middle though, and Schlupp needs to be out wide. Schlupp moved wide and was immediately involved in a goal having been absent all game.

The key changes were Luka on for Eze and Mateta on for Edouard. We suddenly looked okay. Then, PV not learning from his mistakes, took Olise off for Benteke and killed any outlet we had going forwards. JPM was looking good up top and was then essentially moved to right midfield give how deep we were playing.

For Liverpool, we HAVE to start with Luka in DM - again, as soon as he came on, Hughes and Gallagher got further up the pitch than they had all game. He's not the long term answer, and it's CK's spot when he's back. Or even Macca's.

Schlupp goes out to the left or Edouard starts there.

Whilst I've been a big critic of his, JPM deserves a start too up top. If we need to bring Benteke on to shore things up, it's a straight swap for JPM.

Seems obvious to me, but maybe I'm missing something??

Fair comment, but I'm guessing it's - yet again - that with a bit more guile, it might have been a win.

Maybe people remember the days when we played badly at Brighton and won ie last season.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

RB is the postition currently that compromises the whole set up. Ayew, Andersen, and Guehi all have extra workload because of the targeting by the opposition of our RB. Olise doesn't give as much cover to Ward as Ayew, the end result being that all Ward's attributes are exposed.
RB has been an area that has been lacking since the departure of AWB; theoretically would Ward still be in the team if AWB had stayed? I doubt it. I also doubt if Ferguson will ever get up to full match fitness where he can claim the spot as his own.
Ward has been an excellent servant for the club, but his shortcomings have been exposed by the opposition. We really need to dip into the transfer market.

Seconded. If Butland has regained his form that took him to the England squad what a bargain.

Ward needs upgrading asap - Ferguson was on the bench and Hartlepool will likely be his target game.
Eze will be fine.
Schlupp should be played on the left where he can help Mitchell and get forward as well.
Olise can only improve and is exciting.
Poor performance but we drew and it will only get better after Afcon.

IMHO taking off Olise weakened our side DEFENSIVELY as he was very threatening. The result was their WHOLE friggin team in our half. I understand however that PV wants the team to develop in that part of the game - defending points, so no anger towards him for that. I felt bringing Rak-saki on might have helped too, say for Benteke. But silly if they haven't trained for that I guess.

No, Ward has been very good. Reads the game very well and has saved goals using his body almost every game. Definately a keeper until another AWB comes along. He has his 'off' days just like any other player you care to mention, but is 'on' days this season has far surpassed his 'off'. He keeps getting condemned after a rare 'off' day - not fair. If that was Ward instead of Andersen facing the shot that led to Brighton's equaliser, I wager that Ward would have defended it. No offence intended towards Andersen. Ward is awesome in those situations, where most teams would be picking balls out from the back of nets.
