At this stage of the season performances are more important then where you are in the table, weeds were very nicely organised and looked dangerous every time they attacked and Welbeck's chance in the first half was as equally missed as Ayew's and in some ways very similar to Zaha's one on one, our players have to look at themselves in exactly the same way the weed did at the end of our 2-1 last season, both sides are no where near a relegation fight this season and both can look upwards with growing confidence. Calm the f*** down. Exactly this, last season Brighton were so unlucky with their points to performances but you never looked at them and thought they would get relegated, you just knew they was too good, exactly the same for us this season, I've already seen enough and unless we get bad luck with injuries there's no chance we will get relegated this season.

Big Sam always used to say that if you average a point per game return then that would be enough to stay up. On that basis I looked at the first 10 games and thought if we can get 10 points out of them given how tough the fixtures were that would give us a platform to push on for the rest of the season. So far we have 6 from 6 with games against: Leicester, Arsenal, Newcastle and Man city to come. So the question is where are the four points going to come from ?

Only one guy to blame and that VG for the dropped points. School boy error. Just what was he thinking.

It’s been a good few hours now and I’m sure many on here have had time to reflect on what was a very dominant performance by us. Brighton took their chance well and are on a bit of a roll atm, albeit with more than a sprinkling of good fortune. We just need to dig a little deeper to see these games out and we will be in a decent position soon.

I see us getting 12 points from those games Points possible against Leicester and Newcastle who haven't started too well. Arsenal- it depends which team turns up. Man City's a free hit as usual. I'm gonna be positive and say we'll get 5 points. Edited by samprior (28 Sep 2021 5.06pm)

An impressive performance let down by poor finishing and a lapse in concentration at the end. It quite rightly hurt the boys and the hope is they'll learn from it. Ayew is obviously going through a bad patch. Given PV's comments, wanting to re-establish the man's confidence, it'll be interesting to see how long he perseveres with Ayew.

I said to my wife as I was monitoring the game on the BBC that we would concede in the last 5 mins. And what happened ? So many times have we lost points in the last 5 mins and how many have we gained ? Playing better maybe yet still dropping points.

Leicester are playing in Poland Thursday night, they’ll be knackered and they’re not on a good run so I fancy three points against them. Newcastle are rubbish, we’ve let them off the hook too many times recently by not causing them enough problems, but they won’t fancy us now and that should be another three. One point from the Arse / Man City.

Wasn’t a great kick from VG. But…. It cleared halfway and was allowed to bounce in our half after being returned. He had the right to expect his defenders to deal with that.

Brighton scrambled a draw and were delighted, but it doesn’t trump what we did down there on our last visit. Let them gloat,it does some good because it would get boring if we always had the upper hand. As for stadium comparisons, we’ll they win that hands down don’t they? But I remember the Goldstone Ground a sea salted pile of corrugated iron, which let’s be honest was better used for car boot sales at weekends. Then there was the Withdean Stadium, which always reminded me of the Croydon Athletics track stadium which I ran around as a 15 year old. This bit of History has been erased from their minds, like it never happened ever, ever! When you put all this together it makes you realise why it’s good to have this rivalry and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I’m already looking forward to the return fixture when by my calculations we will be above them!

I vthink we could get 5 Draw against Leicester and Arsenal and a win against Newcastle. But he optimist in me thinks we could sneak a win against Leicester or Arsenal. Leicester are away in Europe and haven't been playing brilliant, plus our boys will be desperate to bounce back. Arsenal blow hot and cold, so if we press like we did against Brighton they could fall apart.
