It’s that old psychological trick isn’t it where the human brain can’t relate to large numbers such as £billions; whereas the £40-£50k annual salary is the relatable, relatively comfortable salary that someone can get angry about someone earning for a job that they consider to be futile.

The government waste and cronyism stinks just like the NHS waste and protecting surplus unneeded and pointless managerial positions. Unfortunately I suspect Sir Keith Starmer would waste more but without the (maybe a bit of?) cronyism.

The only evidence we know about so far is stuff such as number of deaths / hospitalisations / lack of PPE I think most of us will agree on those facts. Cummings evidence was his interpretation of how we got into that mess e.g. Boris lied, Hancock lied, civil servants were useless. That evidence has yet to be confirmed so I await for that to be corroborated by others.
