Thought we played well at times and three very valuable points are very welcome. Yes we did still find it difficult to break down the opposition at home but there are more positives than negatives from today. Ayew was yet again excellent and another very well taken goal. Also thought Cahill had a very good game and is really settling us down at the back. His communication with those around him is excellent and he can clearly still play at this level and I believe his vast experience and leadership qualities will really help us. He is a massive upgrade on Dann defensively and is also very threatening from set pieces, something we seem to have been lacking recently. Great to see Sakho back and I reckon him and Cahill will be an awesome pairing at centre half. Sorry to see MK pick up an injury, hopefully a tweak rather than a full tear. Ward got skinned early on but then seemed to be fairly solid defensively but we so evidently miss AWB’s pace, ability and creativity when going forward. We just can’t get an attack going from RB and its just a square pass every time that comes back inside to Kelly or Cahill. Anyway, well done the lads for picking up some more valuable points and Yay! We won at home!!!

We deserved to win today and delighted for Ayew to score who had an excellent game and is currently everything that Benteke is not. Pretty much agree with this. With Roy in charge I think we will get enough points to stay in the PL. It won't be pretty though. We were significantly better than Villa today and were well worth the win, of course, with only one goal, you can easily come unstuck as we so nearly did at the end. I know some on here want to see more ambition from the manager but that significantly increases the risk of not getting enough points to stay up. Hodgson hasn't really been backed by the chairman so, if anyone can be accused of lacking ambition I think it's Parish. Back to today, I thought Cahill looked very assured (admittedly under little pressure) and him and Sakho could be a very good pairing.

Meyer brings a lot more to this team them Macca. This is the typical view of the armchair fan. Maccas workrate is second to none. His contribution is immense. Meyer offers nothing. He is lightweight contributes little. Meyer is best when the game is stretched as an impact sub.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Match of the day sh.theads' by Midlands Eagle Cant believe that our game summary was focused on the villa disallowed goal and apparently was the worst decision ever!omg nothing about how we dominated and had 22 shots and scored a quality goal.i know we should have won by more and got lucky at the end but at least give us done credit and a bit of highlights of our goal and chances cos it don't happen much at home!

Palace weren't lucky, it was a thoroughly deserved win. Exactly this. If anything, we were unlucky not to get a penalty as there were two obvious handball decisions missed.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

How anyone who has watched us play at all over the past year can think Meyer brings more to the team than Macca is beyond me.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Match of the day sh.theads' by Midlands Eagle So good to see a ref giving free kicks and bookings where due. 6 bookings to 1 was a fair reflection of the game. He even got it right blowing his whistle BEFORE the goal. How can VAR override that?
