Same here. They don't watch the football anyhow, so probably don't know whether we're winning or losing. They may as well go to a karaoke bar if they just want a sing song.

Yeah, right. Who ever heard of trying to create an atmosphere at a football ground.

Don’t see what the problem is ? (Apart from the moving issue ). They only help With the atmosphere ,and make it a better match day experience . And make us a bit of a unique club . What does everyone want a run of the mill club lacking atmosphere and players playing in a library. Also it can have a small impact on players deciding to come to a club like ours . Only a positive contribution as far as I am concerned .

What a silly billy.

There is one bloke, sometimes two, facing the fans. Everyone else is watching the match. It is possible to watch and sing all at the same time, who'd a thought it.

Let’s be honest Premier League expectation is here. Our famous atmosphere has subsided as result and moving them a couple of blocks hasn’t made that much difference apart from the fact that the ground would otherwise be silent.

We were playing one of the best teams the league has seen and the atmosphere was crap on a Saturday night. If something needs staging like the singing section the value is lost.

The crowd lifted when we threw in a few tackles and had a bit of a go.

Big up all the prawn sandwich massive.

Can’t stand the type of people that think it’s acceptable to sing at a football game. Disgusting.

They’re singing songs nobody knows and/or wants to sing. That’s the problem. Think of plenty of home and away matches where they’ve bobbed up and down on their own for 20-30 minutes. First match at the Emirates for example.

That’s a big part of why it isn’t and won’t spread. Away from that area it’s all very meh and just a louder drum. Maybe a match where we attack or are in the game might be better to judge but I honestly left v Man City completely forgetting the atmosphere.

Surely you're point is aimed more at the rest of the crowd then the HF? They are consistent and are always trying to get the atmosphere going, it's not necessarily their fault that certain songs don't spread.
With regards to the new songs that "no one knows the words to yet", these will obviously take time to bed in but in my opinion they are actually perfect songs for the crowd as a whole. Similar to the 'we love you' song and that kicks off massively when we've scored

Extremely naïve comment. Trust me, 99% of players care about how many zeros on the end of their pay slip and don't give a 5hit about whether our fans make a lot of noise or not.
Plus the only thing unique about us having the HF (if you actually talk to non Palace football fans) is that our atmosphere is manufactured and our owners care little about long standing fans as they happily booted them out of their seats to make way for the spotty teenagers with a drum (that don't watch the game).
They might make noise but they do not get the whole ground going as has been suggested. They refuse to join in with songs started at different parts of the ground and sing only their own songs.
They have repeatedly attempted to intimidate other fans and many openly act as if they are more important than the average fan. I blame the owners for this for pandering to them in the first place.
They have become way too big for their boots and I think it would have little impact short term and no loss at all in the long term if they suddenly were no longer there.

Crystal Palace ‘ultras’: Ninety relentless minutes amongst the Holmesdale Fanatics

[Link]

Really good article here on the Holmesdale section. Great to see Palace talked about with such positivity, especially by a neutral journalist who can obviously see the massive positives that are being created from the Palace fanbase

Did say a small number of players ! Not an ideal world but take them away as we saw when they stopped coming and it was like a morgue . The recent article as mentioned above tends to Agee with my views

In need of any salt and vinegar for that chip in your shoulder?

Anyone who experienced the appalling atmosphere at the beginning of last season when the HF weren't around knows that this season the atmosphere has been leaps and bounds ahead of that, and the move has been good.

Your point about the rest of the ground not getting involved in chants would be all the more apparant if the HF weren't there! Deathly silence springs to mind.

Moaning about there being new songs that people dont know is laughable. Pride of south london, we love you and many others took their time to bed in. Cant you moan about the burgers or something else instead.
