Really good performance in the first half but the second half was awful- reminded me of games under Pardew! Couldn’t work out why we kept going long with a centre forward under 6ft who can’t hold up the ball. Our keeper never once played out from the back. Surely Benteke would have been a better option if we were going to play that way.

Our GK is good BUT please please don’t punch the ball when you can CATCH IT!! Punching nearly cost us the match! Please have a word with Wayne. What is it about European GKs and punching the ball??
Always remembering walking from the Holmesdale to the Whitehorse end at half time! |

I just hate that s***ty side of the game (even if it is part of it and I accept that).

Thank you to whoever posted the match link. Disappointing result after such a good first half. We sat back in the second half inviting Southampton to come at us. Zaha (... and others) rode all those blatant fouls and got very little back. However, you don't act like a spoilt brat and let your team mates down Not at all clever Wilf and inexcusable behaviour.

Although I too grow frustrated with Roy, I suspect that he based his decisions on the fact that we were playing 3 games in 8 days, without much real depth. So his lack of subbing may have been based on wanting to be sure of 3 points at home v. Fulham, and would be happy with one point today -- thrilled if we could steal three.

The goal we conceded was some of the worst defending I've ever seen by us. Every single player got dragged out of position or off their mark and left in no mans land with a simple pass, absolutely appalling, it looked like an All Blacks passing routine. PVA really should have done a lot better with that final pass too. Easily avoidable goal that let an otherwise decent performance down. Edited by crvenaeagle (31 Jan 2019 4.38am)

PVA is having a poor, poor season and was once again at fault for their goal today.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |

I fear Ayew probably did just what RH wanted, he harried their back four and to be fair to him he dispossessed them several times and started attacks. It actually wasn’t his worst game but perhaps if benteke or Wickham were 100% then he wouldn’t be starting. Given RH is more conservative than Douglas Hurd and more cautious than a cat stalking a pidgeon, when these players are deemed 100% by the gaffer is anyone’s guess. Perhaps in time for their testimonials? Agree with your assessment of Ayew’s performance last night. I thought he played okay, especially first half. However, the last 20 mins he was ineffective due to being knackered. It was crying out for a Wickham or Benteke to come on. Maybe they aren’t fully fit but 20 mins only and on the bench which must mean they are ready for some game time? Think that was a major factor in us dropping two points last night?

I was telling people that I would be happy with a point and overall this wasn't a bad result. When one is pegged back it is somewhat disappointing but had it been the other way round and we had equalised there would have been a different moodset in the dressing room and on such chat sites.
