Entertainment is exactly what supporting a football team is about. Who you support is a matter of choice, its not obligatory. I have supported Palace over 50 years and have known we will never break into the top table of football clubs, but its my local team.
Chelsea and Man City history wasn't anything special before the money. SP screwed up with bringing in those Americans who only was there to put the money into the stadium and he himself doesn't want to put anything in but takes out with all his little companies he has attached to the club

Why are people on here panicking? We came close to beating arsenal with a good performance and weren't atrocious today. We have spurs and united up next and expect nothing from those games. We should be comfortable this year. People need to calm down.

At the end of the day I suspect most supporters didn't think we would get any points from Arsenal,Chelsea, Tottenham and Man Utd.The fact that we got a point against Arsenal is a bonus. I also suspect that most supporters would have hoped that we wouldn't be in the relegation zone after these tough matches.Even if we are, we all saw what happened last season under Hodgson.

Thought we did Ok today. We didn’t look out of our depth and Meyer is starting to show what he can do. Hazard was the difference, Chelsea looked a different team when he came on. I thought that we were shocking on set pieces, we had a couple of warnings before their second goal. I was in the Chelsea end, and I thought the away support was fantastic. I was a bit worried about Zaha, he looked frustrated and petulant. I think we may need to face up to life without him before too long. However, I can’t quite see how we can have 8 points from 11. We are better than that. I can understand the panic, but there is real cause for optimism. I would rather be us than Huddersfield, Cardiff, Fulham or Burnley.

More level headed folks could lean into complacency and then surprise at failure. They will spend their time on here throwing around the term “pant wetter”. They think everything will work out, in all circumstances. They can ride that train and say “I told you so” if we don’t get relegated. They are just happy to be here, if you will. If we do go down, they will try to put a positive spin on that - a season for rebuilding and squad clear out etc etc. Then you have your realists, who lean into worriers. The worrier sees the total lack of depth in the final third, the perennial gaffs from Parish, and believes we have stayed up more through luck than judgement. The worrier desperately wants to see progression into more stability, which would negate the need for constant relegation fear every year. The worrier isn’t totally satisfied until we are mathematically safe. The 2 groups cannot, and will not, get on the same page.

Eight points from eleven games is disappointing. But we matched the Arse and gave Chelsea a game. And we could so easily have had more points by now - the Sakho open-goal miss v Newcastle cost us two, Ward's likewise at Watford cost us one. Luka's pen miss at Everton probably cost us at least one, and we keep hitting the woodwork. All these show that we are matching the mid-table sides. Once we are through the next two matches (Spurs, Man Utd) I think we will start getting the points we deserve. And the really good news is that there are three teams below us with rubbish defences - Cardiff, Fulham and Huddersfield.
