The quality of players brought in by Roy is definitely a worry although I think Meyer could be ok given a run in the team. Ayew and Sorloth are clearly nowhere near good enough. We can think ourselves lucky that this season unusually there are two teams almost guaranteed to go down in Cardiff and Huddersfield.

Roy with an interesting point when interviewed, very silly free kick to give away by sorloth which led to the penalty. We really did hand them the game. Yep I'd forgotten about that but he was right. Stupid free kick to give away.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

Never a penalty in my opinion. Bournemouth player deliberately ran into Sakho's arm although Sakho was stupid to give him the opportunity. Sorloth, Kouyate and Ayew look absolute rubbish. Sorloth has not looked good enough from the word go and I wouldn't touch a player like Ayew if they were refusing to train with their club as has been suggested. Ultimately if we spend consecutive seasons with a defensive midfielders penalties and a left back as our main goal threats to prop up a yield of ~10 from Zaha we are gonna struggle. Need a CF who can score goals desperately. Ayew was a panic bodge job at the end of the window but looks like sticking a band aid on a shotgun wound. Even Meyer worries me slightly. Looks incredibly “pretty” on the ball and keeps it well but I can’t recall what I’d call an incisive pass to create a golden opportunity. And seems personally unwilling or unable to take shots himself/get in the box. Reminds me of Jonny Williams in a way. Keeps the ball well without really heavily influencing any goal threat

One thing's for sure - with games like that Wilf will be gone in January!

Might look better in a midfield four which I was expecting to see tonight with Zaha and a Townsend up top. Thought Townsend showed enough last week against West Brom further forward and that Ayew would be on the bench? With that said Townsend and Zaha were poor tonight.

We could have won this tonight, but instead heaped pressure on ourselves by giving away needless free-kicks with minutes to go. As for the penalty, when are we going to learn. The referee warned the players before the free- kick came in, we made an easy decision even easier for him... I’m too pissed off to say anymore...

Reckon we’re about where we deserve to be in the league table. The teams below us are poorer than us and those above have been better. We were poor tonight. No one capable of passing to feet, crosses lobbed in, and one decent shot all night. I was in Camp Nou watching Barca at the weekend. Makes you realise how crappy the Premier League really is. Well I suppose it’s better than the SPL.

Amid all the gloom, it’s worth noting that we scored a cracking goal. Slick pass by Wilf followed by a super strike from PVA. More of that please!

Are we becoming a bit of a soft touch? In all the years since we came up we haven't consistently really been that, despite at times being awful. I just hope we can stop giving games away with glaring misses or stupid fouls - Sakho springs to mind for both occasions lately.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |
