This new opener Cook possible 2 fifties in the game. Better give him a run see what he can do.

I am afraid one thing England are clods at, is reviews. Missed two Indian wickets here they should be six wickets down not four. Correction India are clods at reviews too. Kohli twice reviewed in hope and lost the reviews with only 27 on the board for England.

154 run lead with two down is not bad. No collapse and we could get a 350 lead tomorrow. Root is due a score. Dare I say Moen has been pretty good in this test overall. Out from a good ball. He broke the crucial partnership, had the best bowling figures and got the 3rd highest score of the innings for England. We're looking in decent shape like you say.

It could be the making of Jennings actually. To get into the England team you have to be very talented of course but you need all the luck going, not least in finding someone who backs you and believes in you. You walk to the crease feeling great, someone bowls you a 'jaffa' first ball, could easily halt end your hopes.

I understand your sentiments, however Jennings has been given chances. He was selected then dropped then brought back into the team and his average in the current series against India is a paltry 18, which includes scores of 0,8,10,11,13,20 etc. His test average overall is 20.Certainly not been getting 'Jaffa' balls for all his dismissals. I am reading that the wickets in Sri Lanka are slow - I have no idea whether this will help Jennings or not.Overall we have had a problem finding the right openers to accompany Cook - I think he has had 12 different partners at the crease since Strauss retired.

Ali is not the future and it blocking the selection and experience of a batsman who needs experience for the Ashes......and unlike him might actually be able to perform on foreign wickets. Wonderful scenes at the Oval for Cooks century in his last test match innings. Root motoring along to a century hopefully after a lean spell for him. Ali is a fine player don't be curmudgeonly and I spelt that correctly.
