I should imagine that the momentum that hits the body is equal to the recoil that the shooter also feels.

But yeah....I don't know much about it.

Those old B & W newsreels, WW1 and others, and even recent ones when people get shot, they just fall. Like a stone.

In any case I think the emphasis should be on the victims really and their stories and bravery.

That and just common sense ways to behave when something of this nature occurs, to save lives in future. People can behave in very irrational, counter intuitive ways in extreme circumstances. I saw a clip of one group of people just standing around as the bullets rained down a good 8 minutes into this thing. Bizarre.

A modern phenomenon is for people, when witnessing some s*** happening, to whip out their phones to film it. This, instead of, you know, helping.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

Well, the recoil doesn't knock you over to start with (as long as you're holding the gun right) and certainly doesn't blow you off your feet. However, the energy the bullet carries compared to the mass of a human being is a significant mismatch, so the bullet penetrates - because it's pointy and rotating - and the target's body won't move from the impact because there's such a tiny energy transfer between the bullet and the body.

I think Saving Private Ryan did a good job of being realistic with this. For example, the opening scene when the ramp of the landing craft goes down and the poor souls aboard get strafed by machine gun fire, they all just drop. Similarly, when Capt. Miller gets killed (spoiler alert) by the returning German soldier, he just drops.

Seems like the sheriff of Las Vegas, thinks along similar lines as I do.

FBI being predictably tight lipped about any assumptions, but it would seem after reading the article that the idea he had help is not as far fetched as some on here believe.

Mentioned on the news last night. Apparently the guy has no social media presence or internet searches which given his age might not be that strange but there is now the suggestion he had help. And that then brings a motive into play

'Help' with what though exactly? Booking the room? Taking the luggage upstairs? Using google?

We know he didn't need help in buying enough weaponry to defend The Alamo as it was Nevada with its very liberal attitude to purchasing guns. My nine year old could probably buy a machine gun in a sweet shop in those parts.

Not everyone falls like a stone when they get shot Kermy. It depends on lots of different factors.

Sure seen shot people jump around or crawl when injured but can't think of any major motion when shot dead other than just falling. Now stabbings you get major movements but that is more in shock than force.

What a delightful conversation this is
