If anyone isn't aware Macro Silva is best mates with Jorge Mendes so to think he won't have contacts is absurd! (Sorry if the spelling is wrong)

Silva has an excellent track record when you look at the resources he had to work with at the clubs he managed. Managing Estoril in Portugal, he took them to new heights they had never seen before. Won the second division, got them qualified for Europa league for 2 seasons straight after promotion. Went on to manage Sporting, where he won them the cup, finished 3rd, but was fired at season end for not wearing the clubs official suit at a game ! At Olympiacos he had an 80% win rate, including a memorable 3-2 win at Arsenal. Like people have said before, he had the worst team in the league to work with, and came close to saving them. This guy would be fantastic to have here.

I have been speaking to a couple of Palace supporters tonight and they were BOTH totally against Silva joining, in fact they asked me to pass their feelings on to Parish ! One of them didn't have an alternative in mind, the other one was pro-Hodgson. You are keeping bad company then. So just are you going to pass this information to SP. I am beginning to think you live in cloud cuckoo land.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Marco Silva ??? ~ You are joking right ???' by Guntrisoft I am not solely judging him on the Hull experience because I have said there were "Extenuating circumstances". What I am saying is that he arrived at Hull as a relative 'Unknown' as far as supporters in this country are concerned on the back of a record with major clubs in lesser leagues, yet he suffers a relegation and all of a sudden he is the "Flavour of the month" and many might conclude the "Real deal". ! Just like Luka then! I suppose you think he is not up to it as he has mainly played in Belgium and Greece. You seem to be taking great pleasure in dismissing any sensible suggestions.

Wouldn't be that bad a choice.
Why would anyone chose to be a Seagull? The Eagle is a far superior creature. The Seagull lives under it's damp pier meekly looking out, blinded by the sheer quality of the Eagle's palace. |

Edited by Portuguese (25 May 2017 6.30pm) Just found this really good article which describes his coaching approach. Rather to my surprise, he seems a very good fit for Palace. He seems to emphasise a defense first approach, with meticulous attention to defensive formation, and favours a counter attacking style going forward.

Yes, Silva would be a very "Underwhelming" appointment. Presumably then, if this goes ahead you will no longer grace this board with your doom mongering and attention seeking drivel.

Good point but neverthless this review needs to be context in a way like Ortega y Gasset says: "I am plus my circumstances." Edited by Portuguese (25 May 2017 7.07pm)
