Sport developed in this country in the Victorian era because people attended in person. The newspapers of the day noticed the large crowds and decided to report it for those who coundn't attend. As radio and TV arrived they followed suit. In other words the sport was popular and the media followed. The problem with women's and other minority sports is they want to do the reverse. They want money and media coverage to boost their popularity. You can grow a sport today as rowing and cycling have shown by being successful and marketing personalities the public recognise. The money, fame and media coverage will follow. Women footballers complain about their wages yet how much revenue does their game generate? Anyway equality in sport doesn't make sense surely sport is unequal. Usain Bolt runs faster then me should we tie some bricks to his legs? He has earned a fortune and good luck to the bloke apparently when he turned up to a track meeting the promoters were guaranteed a sell out crowd. Bums on seats. If the BBC wants to promote women's football so be it but it will not take off until we have a female Beckham or Messi. Anyway I shan't be watching. Edited by Badger11 (24 Mar 2018 11.42am)

Bit harsh. Women's footballs a growing sport. As far as I'm concerned the more people playing sport the better. I quite enjoy watching the England women's games, the standards improved a lot over recent years. If you don't want to watch it, that's up to you, switch the telly off.....

Agreed, I have a daughter who is playing football and likes watching other women play. If you don't like it, just ignore it. Much like I do with cricket, F1 and Nascar (even more boring than F1). I salute Palace for having CPLFC and the younger academies. It's the right thing to do and opens up the game for more people. As for you "cooking and cleaning" clowns. Grow up. You're not funny, just sad people stuck in another world. Originally posted by spartakev2
