Unless we go abroad we're going to get absolutely fleeced on a striker. The Prem teams all know it, they are'nt going to sell unless it's silly money. I think Gayle was sold as part of the Townsend deal but I also think the board thought the Benteke deal was closer than it's turned out. £20m+ for Berahino is silly money, he's good but nowhere near that good and with only 12 months on his contract it's ridiculous. I would rather spend £10-12m twice on foreign strikers with some goal pedigree but not massive names that give us a couple of different options with unknown quantity. This window is going to be mental for the Premier league. Edited by Icepick Tony (22 Jul 2016 10.23pm)

What you miss out in playing hardball with one sale, you may make up with many other sales. But turning down £20 mil plus £3 mil add-ons is pushing it. If his value was a 1 year proportion of a 5 year contract (book value) the postman said yesterday, Berahono would be going for £5 million. Edited by Rudi Hedman (22 Jul 2016 10.30pm)

Well unless the player slaps in a transfer request (meaning he does not get his fee for a sale) then Berahino will most likely run down his contract and go to Spurs for free and a big signing on fee. I think we should move on. No point waiting for an answer. We bid the desired price and its been rejected. We need a striker before pre-season ends to blend into our system ready for 13 Aug. Ironic it's home to the Baggies!

Not going to happen. Along with Benteke. They don't want to come to Palace regardless of the the figure that we're not going to offer that would be accepted, and regardless of a WBA replacement being found in Berahino's case. We will end up with something like Ulloa and a relatively unknown foreign striker loan signing. Not being negative just realistic as the major issue here with strikers, the holy grail, is not being in Europe. Happy to donate £5 to the value of every £1 million pounds spent on either Benteke or Berahino signing for us, to the most popular charity of alls choosing. Would love to be proven wrong - not that I think Berahino is the right fit!

I think this season is worse too as the euro's fell at the same time as the money went up. Euros and world cup always inflate players in that window. Still, we've got time left and you never know what may happen!

Going abroad looks the only option for some value, it's a gamble but we need a striker and the season is getting closer. Finishing 15th doesn't help persuade foreign players we are not relegation candidates.

The worst thing they did was to sell Gayle before we had a replacement for him. That left us for now With Wickham ( injured most of the season) and Campbell who never will reach premier leauge standard, meaning we lack a deasen`t forward.I say in this silly season, look abroad.we can`t trow money out the window either

I suspect this talk is just rubbish about Sadio Berahino. The first report I can see online was from the tame local paper The Croydon Advertiser. It could be and I hope it just a ruse to get Liverpool to be realistic in there pricing of Christian Benteke
