Also heard that Akinbiyi has been fired, but I'm not sure if it was at Kuwait. If it was, he'll likely miss.

Despotic, it's pinko queer Saddam-loving tax-dodgers like you that are polluting this great nation with your whining sanctimonious tripe. Why don't you just go back to France and take your Muslim and coloured friends with you?
Great post TDB.

You see, this is how we average Americans think: If a certain so-and-so is not perceived as a threat to our lives, then, believe it or not, we don't want to kill him! Funny how that works! Is this what the average American thought of Osama Bin Laden before Sep 11th. Why wait for something to happen??? Isn't it strange how the scuds launched at Kuwait are the ones that were supposed to be given up. I wonder how many more he has got up his sleeve. Lets be honest he was never going to hand these over to the UN.

Just checking, but last I heard they were just thought to have been Scuds. Fog of war, and all... [Mind you, even if they were, who's to say that Blix might have had them if he'd been given more time? Now we'll never know.] As for Osama, I'm sure he WAS perceived as a threat by the US, since his involvement in bombing the African embassies and the attack on the USS Cole. Even Prez Clinton sent cruise missiles at Afghanistan in an attempt to take him out.

HMHS - you've raised a very important issue there. If/when the weapons of mass destruction are found/not found in Iraq that will be it, the war and loss of life will have been worth it (so B & B will have us believe) and we will never ever know if there could have been a more peaceful way of finding them and disarming Saddam as the UN wanted us to and Blix thought we were closer to achieving with more time. The cover up for the other real reasons behind this war will be complete.

And I'm pretty sure the US knew what threat he posed seeing as they trained him!

Very true, my yellow-fruited friend. Some more developments today... Iraq claims to have shot down a US or UK fighter aircraft at 0255GMT Friday which then crashed inside Kuwait. Officials in Washington confirm that a US Marine has been killed in Iraq - the first reported combat death. An Iraqi opposition leader says opposition fighters have engaged troops loyal to president on outskirts of northern city of Kirkuk.
