Local team. Simple as that. If you're Croydon born (and don't support the Croydon football team), you follow Palace.

It makes me puke to see all these kids going around in M*n U and A**enal shirts. My wife's pregnant and the baby will have Palace kit for swaddling clothes, and there will be red and blue balloons outside my house when she brings him/her home.

Although I don't think I'll get away with it like that bloke at the Brighton game if it's due on a Saturday!

Used to live in Thorton Heath until I was ten and used to be able to hear when Palace scored. Plus they never have a boring season. ALWAYS something going on.

Arsenal at home was my first match 1-1 in the old div 1. Hooked ever since. I know I could never just switch to a glory side, like others.

Never a dull season @ the Palace

hehe. yeah i know what u mean about palace being a special team. whenever i watch them at selhurst i just get the feeling we can beat anyone, i dont go to too many games unfortunatly - work. but when i go to the cup games mainly during the week, like when we played sunderland or liverpool, its just like... well if we can beat these who cant we beat? and then a week later we lose 3-0 to wallsall or something

I wasnt given a choice, my mum and dad support palace and say ive been to most home matches since i was 4. Although my memory aint that great. I would have supported palace though anyway. Why support a team you will never get to see play?

One thing i hate about palace though is that i dont go to away matches because my mates are all chelsea fans and me mum and dad dont wanna go

I have supported Palace since 1957 purely because in those days we supported our local team, and living in the london area as we did then, we had several choices. I chose Palace and my Big bruv chose Arsenal and we still support our teams to this very day. I too get really p*ssed off when I see Manure and other premiership team shirts going round on plymothians backs down here. They should be supporting Plymouth Argyle......Its oh so different to my youth.............Palace forever!!!

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

I didn' have a choice about it, i was told because its my local team. I occasionally go and see croydon play because my grandad used to play for them but apart from that its only palace

I plead insanity

Who's your grandad mark87?

Trivial fact - Palace used to win 5-1 at least once a season, maybe next season?

Started supporting palace when i was 8/9....'75/'76.........me old man use to go with his mates from the Spread Eagle, the Signal and the Beehive in south Norwood, and one time they went to a game v willmall and they took me and that was that i started to go with them even if me old man didnt.

Plus i only lived on the new estate on long lane,Addiscomb so it just seemed natural to support the local team.

As far as i know most of me old school mates from Monks orchard, shirley high and John Ruskin supported palace aswell.

Dont know if any of them still get to the games or not,but i would think most of them turned up for the weed game.

Were you there in '83/'84 by the way?

My son was born in Mayday at the final whistle, Saturday 25 March 2000, when we lost 0-1 to Charlton (can't say I remember much about that match, or anything else on that day!). There is much pressure from his paternal relatives for him to support a certain Welsh team, but as they are just about to drop out of the league - no chance!
