Just looking at Britain, there is no way at all we can live in harmony if people (particularly Asians) openly practice their religions. The Christianity aspect of Britain is slowy dying by there is no way white Britains will accept Muslim extremists et al for much longer. It has to stop if this country wants to avoid serious conflict.

Why can't Asians openly practice their religions? Not all Muslims are extremists.

Christian fundamentalists are the greater danger, anyway.

Quite simply, Britain is not a Muslim country, it is not a Sikh country, it is not a Hindu country. No disrespect to these religions at all, I respect people for choosing their beliefs and sticking to them but openly practising their religions will incite people, no question.

Society is so wonderfully diverse now, you can be murdered and mutilated by all manner of fellow these days, it's greeeeeat!

pardon me, it had completely slipped my mind that murder was a purely modern phenomena. murder and mutilation never used to happen of course not

Quote Petealiator at 16 Mar 2005 6:35pm

We've destroyed planet Earth in all manner of highly advanced and clever ways haven't we! We've killed off more species than you can shake a stick at because we're so damn clever. We're far too clever to need God! Who needs God when everything is soooo spiffing and we're so clever now?

so being clever is purely to blame for the destruction of the earth??!! surely mans ever-increasing awareness of the earth and the environment is helping to reduce our previous crimes against mother earth. on the other hand, let us all pray to the great god and he will surely fix everything for us.

Quote Petealiator at 16 Mar 2005 6:35pm

It seems to me that evil is starting to tip the balance over good in the human psyche and on Earth. As the human soul / spirit regresses and withers the human brain advances and the arrogance and pride of man spirals out of control so that man now believes in nothing but himself and all the s*** he's created on Earth and he follows nothing but his base desires and serves only his own selfish needs!

you should write hollywood blockbusters. that is some top drawer doom-mongering!! so what about the millions of years of conquests, wars, debauchery and gluttony that have preceeded our society. Were they acting for common profit? Selfishness has always been a problem of man and none of your self-indulgent whinging will change that!!

Quote Petealiator at 16 Mar 2005 6:35pm

From where I'm sitting, mankind looks f***ed! God help us all!

You keep on praying to your temple. I'll look after myself thank you very much.

Surely then, the problem is not Muslims or Hindus but those small-minded bigots that are incited by other people having the audacity to be different to them?

edit: Muslims and Hindus have as much right as Christians to practice their religions.

You could say that yes, but a western civilised world with Christianity just doesn't mix with the anti-capitalist views of Islam. Conflict is inevitable because some of them, only a small proportion, despise western civilisation and see it as a threat to their religion. It is easy for people to tar them all with the same brush, it is not right but it happens.

They have their views and beliefs, they won't change them. There are small-binded biggots on both sides of the coin and as a result there will never be total harmony in the world.

Religion does have a place in the world, definitely. But there is no way at all that Islamic, in particular, groups will cue peace and harmony in the world when they are living with Westerners.

but is england a catholic country? whilst it is the state religion, I believe that recent polls have indicated that the majority of people residing in this country are not followers of catholocism.

no religion should maintain dominance in a country. as fr as i'm concerned people are entitled to believe whatever they like, but you're right that it goes too far when it interferes with others.

the amount of prayer rooms that companies are installing, people objecting to you eating bacon in front of them (this has happened to me!) and people generally forcing their religion down your throat has to be one of the most annoying things you can experience. and perhaps more of a problem in my view than the supposed loss of integrity and moral-fibre this country is experiencing

The Church in England is the Church of England, which is Protestant, Henry VIII changed that about 500 years ago.

I agree with you tetley, I have no problem at all if they practice their religion in private with no aggravation to the people around them. It is England, and therefore the requests of the majority should be more important than the lifestyles of the minority. There is no way at all that we should be restricted from living a free life because a religion and believers of this religion request otherwise. It is England after all...

If there are 'small-minded bigots on both sides of the coin', why should Muslims and Hindus be the ones that get penalised, and not Christians?

I know this sounds childish but, quite simply, we were here first and it's our country.

Shouldn't Christians be banned from openly practicing their religion then, for fear of inciting pagans?
