Didn't take you long to get abusive. Why do you think the NF took a "loyalist" slogan? I don't want to turn this into a history lesson. Back off the personal attacks - you don't know anything about me. (Must say, your mental picture of me makes me laugh - would love to be a student!) I was reacting to use of the phrase in the context of abuse to travellers - what's the protestant cause got to do with that, unless it's racism?

Like I said, if it's simply a cherished piece of your historic protestant struggle, what's it doing in the same breath as this abuse? "Pikey's are ... scum! Anyway, I'm too old to be bothered responding to your abuse. Interested in others' views, though.

having read this thread i have to say that both sides have a point in my opinion, but that palace tart loses all credibility for the way she goes about her argument. never have a read such garbage on this site before. why attack someone personally simply for the fact they have a different opinion to you - the fact you stoop to childish name calling and questioning gary's sexual adaquacy only serves to undermine you even more and make you out to be a fool.

I can understand where your coming from Gary, but your getting the wrong end of the stick here. Yes it can be considered racist to call a traveller 'Pikey' just as it is racist to call someone Black 'Coloured' but thats PC gone mad!

Hate doesnt discriminate. If you think its okay to hate 'pikeys' but treat everyone else by standards you would expect to be given yourself then I think you'd be in for a surprise. Thats in context to how the argument developed and not the original point. Edited by rchrd (29 Oct 2004 1:00am)

Hate does discriminate - for example, I hate Brighton but I don't hate Southend Utd. There's no point in me contributing to this further, I don't like Pikeys...and I would HATE them if there was anywhere for them to pitch up near my house - thankfully there isn't. I do not hate / dislike Asians, Blacks, Jews, Protestants ( I'm a left footer myself )...I take each person as an individual. But Pikeys...sorry, they're trash.
