Was one of the best wing backs in the world when he was with Atalanta a few years ago - worked his way into the German squad for Euro 2020 and got a big move to Inter who made the CL Final with him in 2022/23.

Career seems to have stalled a bit since then - he left Inter after only 18 months and moved to Union Berlin who are essentially a mid-table Bundesliga side, and was left out of WC 22 and Euro 24 squads for the national side, despite a shortage of German left backs.

I'm not sure if there are any personal circumstances or question marks around attitude or anything like that, but his stock has certainly dropped significantly since the Atalanta days.

if he's anything like the player he was at Atalanta, it would be phenomenal business for us, but I suspect that is not the case.

I got hold of a Dick Emery Show compilation DVD and I ordered my two daughters, then 11 and 10, now 24 and 23, to watch it. They loved it and they still recall it fondly from time to time. No wokes in my family!

Still a good player but I don’t think he really fits our profile. But he definitely fits the system, good going forward, scores good goals. Union had a bit of a strange season, started off with Champions League and ended up narrowly avoiding relegation. If Gosens is on the move he’s probably looking for CL or Europa League clubs. Unless he just really fancies Premier League experience.
