My father was (still is!) religious and I'm a Palace fan because the vicar at his church used to lend us his two (yes TWO!) season tickets whenever he couldn't use them for himself and a guest. My dad's vicar was a close friend of Rev. Sands and consequently I was lucky enough to meet him a few times. A lovely, lovely man.

Sadly 'our' vicar died terribly young, heartbroken by the early death of his beloved wife.

RIP. He lives on for as long as people refer to his books, which I still do on a regular basis.

I fondly remember his page in the matchday programmes from the 80s.

Sad news. RIP Rev Nigel and condolences to your family.

Sad to hear. He was also part of the Palace experience for me. His knowledge was so deep. He really loved our club. Nice to read the tributes to someone who was obviously a lovely guy. RIP.
