Harris is now in charge ha ha should be fun No she isn’t. Biden remains as President and will see out his term, which will result in the Republicans having to fire at two targets. The more Biden draws to him the better it will be for her. The Republicans will demand he resign immediately etc etc. He won’t, so Harris can concentrate solely on defeating Trump. The last few weeks have put Trump well in the lead but like Verstappen he is prone to anger and stupidity and suddenly there is a Mclaren in his wing mirrors. The fat lady might just have been asked to sing an encore.

Might be best to simply write this election off as lost now as Trump was going to walk it anyway. I just hope that one day both parties might come up with a lead candidate that does not make the Pope look like a nipper

Well I never, one of WE's predictions has come good. Man, did he fight it though. Edited by Stirlingsays (21 Jul 2024 7.06pm) So the assassination attempt is looking more and more like a last desperate attempt to get rid of Trump. Let's brace ourselves for plan D, E and F. The still have the race card, finding child p*** and 'spontaneous' riots. Popcorn at the ready.

Both Clintons now endorse Harris....along with Biden it's pretty hard to see the woke Democrats now passing her over for white boy Newsom, Buttigieg or white girl Whitmer. Looks like they are going for Mrs 'What Can Be, Unburdened By What Has Been' Harris. Edited by Stirlingsays (21 Jul 2024 9.06pm)

The anti-Trump coalition is still the biggest group in US politics. A good number of them had, for obvious reasons, had doubts about the capacity of Biden to serve another 4 years. Those doubts have now gone. What they need now is a candidate they can believe in. It will probably be Harris, but not certainly. Now though there is reason for optimism again. Not just for me but for many millions for whom Trump was a reluctant choice they no longer need to make. We know the lure of the fresh new grass next door works in politics.

It will anyway be framed that he was so determined not to see another 4 years of Trump he was determined, despite his frailties, to fight to the last to preserve democracy. The very fact that you accept it’s conceivable that she could win is proof enough that this needed to be done. The next days, and then the next months, are now going to be much more interesting.

Of course it's conceivable but then most things are no matter how unlikely. Biden's determination should have made him step down months ago to give his party the best chance of winning.
