Football's Coming Home

It was quite clever when originally coined in 1996, given the double-meaning in the song, but now it's just a moronic chant for band-wagon jumpers who see no irony in the fact that every time it's been sung in the past, football didn't actually 'come home' because England did blow it again or throw it again or whatever the song said.

Even worse: Footballs Coming Home.

I know I’ve put this on here before somewhere, but I’ll do it again, it seems to fit in with this thread.
All the modern football phrases, for an old dinosaur like me, it gets right up my nose

Double Pivot
False nine
Overloads
Low block
Full press
Game management
‘We’ll kick on’
Transition
‘The project’
Recycle the ball

Oh do fcuk off, it’s a simple game, you just have to put the ball in the white thing with the net hanging on it

Monkey, I’m with you on the ‘get’ thing. Idiots.
Also people who start their sentences with ‘so’.
People who end their sentences with ‘right?’
Over use and inappropriate use of ‘like’.
“I was like, he was like, they were like”
Like what??????

Aussie sportsmen have a habit of prefacing every answer with "Ah, look..."

One can add 'Half spaces', 'Inverted full-backs', 'Beat the press', 'High line', 'Half-turn', 'DOGSO'.

And underlapping which sounds quite feline.

Off topic but Alan Smith described one player as having "feet like paintbrushes" presumably he meant it as a comment on his artistry but it just sounds very uncomfortable.

Saying "One hundred per cent" instead of just agreeing.
"Oh, my days" drives me up the wall.

Worse is those who say 110%. How does that work?

Also one that gets me is /"you're not wrong" instead of /"you're right"

The list goes on

I think out of all of them, it’s the ‘false nine’ that bugs me the most, what the fook is a false nine?? As an ex Sunday league player, a false nine sounds like if I get close enough marking their centre forward I could peel the number 9 off the back of his shirt

God I hate to say it, but that sounds like my daughter, especially when she’s having a rant about someone at work

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.
