No.

Didn't.

It was a perfect storm of an SNP collapse, the rise of Reform, poor election timing and campaign, and years of incompetent governance on a scale not seen since...???

Getting rid of Johnson, a pandemic, increased immigration, being in power for 14 years.

Look no further than that.

It is only good if they are replaced by who you are aligned to, no?

Not at all, IMO these two were particularly empty vessels compared to Streeting for example who has shown a desire for pragmatism which I hope will be allowed to flourish

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Yep, all those storm components.

Not seen since 2009/2010

Ah sure most of us have lived through one labour government I am pretty sure we can do it again. Nothing will change more of the same we have had the last few years.

Strange how europe is now lurching to the right just as labour takes over.

Britain has to always be out of step.

From many Tory voters point of view, he was betrayed. We eventually got a man who no one voted for.
The idea of Reform voters punishing Johnson rather than the party as a whole is conjecture.

I would say that Johnson is not necessarily the primary focus as far as voting against the failure to reduce immigration, stopping the boats or rejecting wokeism.

Election is over, maybe time for a new thread.

Let's see what happens in first week and month.

First thing, new cabinet.

Good to see Ashworth and Debonnaire have gone.

Ashworth lost to a pro Palestine candidate.

Good to see Truss and Morduant on the dole.

No, but it is hard to recall an elected official who made the transition from electoral gold dust to toxic pariah in such a short time.

Kenneth Clarke said of him, a very affable chap but he "couldn't run a whelk store". And that is a neat summary. Avuncular, charming, genuinely likeable. He is a vote magnet but one singularly lacking in any talent to run a country. His minders kept him under wraps as best they could as his job was purely to secure power and cosmetically present as a PM while the real work was done elsewhere. It was only a matter of time before this mask slipped and he was found out for one gaff or another.

What's that got to do with the performance of the new government?

And this was largely engineered by Remainers in the party and the left.

I couldn't visit someone very dear to me in hospital when they were dying, but I didn't get angry about Boris and his mates having a bit of cake during lockdown.
I expect the ruling class to abuse their own rules, be they Labour or Tory.
I don't think most Tory voters would have thrown out the co engineer of a Brexit win because of an ill judged office party.
