It doesn't work though. My mate has got a season ticket but only makes about half of the games. He just does a screenshot of his matchday code then WhatsApp's it to someone who can go. They present the code to the reader and in they go. Although he's meant to sit beside me, I reckon there were 5 or 6 different people in his seat last season.

Yes but unlike a plastic card the path of a digital ticket is traceable from issuer to end user.
