My understanding is that the £60m release fee for Eze only applies to clubs in the champions league…..so we don’t need to worry about Spurs.

They would be a bunch of tyre kickers anyway. If they did make an offer it would be low ball, no doubt with one of their many rejects thrown in. Why waste time dealing with them? On the other hand Chelsea & United are two clubs who would probably play it straight and pay us true value if we had to sell. I can also see the benefits for Olise of both clubs. Both huge and probably on the up.. Edited by XKudu (09 Jun 2024 12.02pm)

Does everyone actually believe there is a release clause? I don’t recall any mention of one when he was signing a new contract. Eze to Spurs is also nonsense talk. There is not a chance Levy would pay that sort of money for a player and Eze would be off his rocker to want to go there.

There is not a chance Levy would pay that sort of money for a player and Eze would be off his rocker to want to go there. Unlike when Olise signed his new contract (due to Chelsea being publicly after him and also it being pre-season) there wasn't really much hoo-ha when Eze signed. So I think a lot of the details weren't discussed as much. I heard a while back from a Palace journo that Eze's get out clause wasn't a simple "here's the money now he's our's" type so here's hoping Spurs have trouble getting him. The one worry is that he has same agent as lots of Spurs' players including Son and Maddison.

Maybe that has been the inspiration behind the media speculation ? Originally posted by eritheagle

If he wants to move to a bigger club to get more money and some Europa football then so be it, but it would hardly be a sign of real ambition. The other question would be is he really what they need if they're going to blow their summer budget on one player? One other factor is that under Ange Spurs are very box-to-box and rely on a lot of pace and energy. I love Eze but he is not what you'd call box-to-box. I still think he'll stay, but if there is a release clause we just have to cross our fingers that no one sees fit to trigger it.

If Eze has a career death wish then he signs for Spurs. Apart from, maybe Peter Taylor can anyone name one Palace player who went to Spurs and thrived?

As an old fart one thing I have learnt - as you go through life on the odd occasion the stars align, by that I mean - The employee/ The Company / The Job are all in the same place at the same time & the outcome is really fantastic. For me this is how I feel about Eze playing at Palace just now, I hope he sees it the same way.
