Surely if you win the cup you also qualify for Europe? So cup please.

Agree ! Europe follows FA cup. Unless we top four of course !

Still a cup & at Wembley. Just because YOU don't rate it, doesn't mean others feel the same.

I’m with you eagleman, it was a special day for the 33,000 of us who were there, especially coming so quick after the heartbreak of the year before

I’ve seen palace play in FA Cup finals which was my dream as a kid, especially 1990 at the old Wembley when it still mattered, so I’d love to get into Europe just to see a bit of competitive European football at selhurst even if we get knocked out early, I saw us play samsunspur in the intertoto cup in July 98 but can’t bring myself to count that as having seen palace play in Europe

To those saying winning a cup gets us into Europe, so I say "cup":-

1) Is that true of both cups? Not sure.

2) What I really meant by the original question (and what I think was meant by the comments on HOL that formed it) was whether one would choose winning a cup over finishing top 6 or 7 or 8 or whatever qualifies you for a European comp.

FA Cup = Europa

Carabao = final qualifying round for Conference League

Both assuming not qualified via league position for a better tournament

I don't mind putting off a Cup for a season. Top 4 and then win the Champions League the following year is enough for me

We have played in Europe, Anglo Italian, inter toto, i couldn't give a rats arse about the silly European cups, that muck your domestic season up, Champions league, fair enough, but league or FA cup all day long for me

Thanks for clarifying that. I'm assuming then that a club winning the league cup then finishing (say) 10th in the PL creates an additional European slot for an English team. In other words it doesn't override a team that finishes high enough to qualify for the Conference League themselves. Do you know if that's correct?

The cup might not be the be all and end all for the top six clubs. For all the rest it remains a dream come true. Definitely the cup.

I think Fulham fans who cheered on Roy's boys all the way to the Europa League Final would beg to differ.

But is still a limited tournament that the teams that are not quite good enough enter, the League and FA cup are open tournaments that all enter, 12 games to reach the Quarter finals, of the Europa league, not worth it
